It is a shame that what could be a wonderful spot on a beautiful lake has been allowed to run down and no one is enforcing rules. Took a small mid afternoon lunch to the park with my wife. Tables were filthy and in a beginning state of disrepair. The pier and other items including what was once a cute little bridge over a water runoff area are quickly deteriorating. Two LARGE dogs were in this park....not on leashes...which is clearly marked "No Pets" . One of the dogs came up to us and barked scaring us. The other went over in the grass and deficated. The owner was paying no attention and of course did not clean up the mess. At least one obviously homeless man was in the park with everything he owned. I understand the desire to rebuild and modernize this park, but my question is, if you cannot maintain, clean and police what you have, how is a newly renovated area going to help? My advice? Perhaps the best place, (open to the public), for viewing Lake Jackson. Try it out for sunset. On the same property is a small sandy beach, some benches and a restroom. Beware on my visit the city of Sebring was not maintaining the restrooms or performing any housekeeping. And that is a shame because this is really the best public access to the shoreline of Lake Jackson. There is boat access on the northwest end of Lake Jackson.

Read moreLocated on the east side of the lake, you can watch an engaging Sunset event each day! The gazebo and pier have a few benches and a lovely walk to the gazebo, if you so choose to. If not, there are benches nearby on land and a small beach to lay out on. There are five or six gazebos for holding a picnic or event, and even a small playground nearby for toddlers.
