W. H. Shafer Park — Attraction in Selma

Coached a Selma T-Ball team and had our games here. 3 baseball fields, lots of space, running paths, basketball courts and tons of shade through most of the park. Not many vagrants (if any most days I have been there) and it's kept pretty clean. There are 2 play ground areas, one with swings. You don't have to reserve covered spaces most days but it's recommended to avoid having to leave a spot for someone who did. There are also quite a few BBQs and tables, even at the non-reserve spots. Overall, one of the better public parks/playgrounds...

Needs more exits and parking and somewhat of a fence to keep the little one at the play ground and not the street plus needs a age limit requirement for the playground teens are intimidateing the younger ones and at imes taking over the units and not play on units but they just sit with their significant other and have a a touch and feel on each other showing too much affection for one another at the playground where they should be doing at their back yard...

This park is busy with baseball and basketball games, plus other activities year round for people of all ages. Even with the activities, as far as parks go, a person can still enjoy some "quiet time." The park is ideal for family picnics and other outings. A park visitor will find the restrooms clean.
