Fluff's Stuff Re-Tail for Rescue — Attraction in Seminole

On January 30, 2025 I purchased a solid wood dresser and nightstand totaling $198.57 from Fluff’s Stuff Re-Tail Rescue store, 9400 Seminole Blvd., Seminole, FL.

In mid-June, I noticed what I thought were ants, on the floor, close to the dresser. I called the exterminator who regularly services my condo complex and was horrified to learn what I thought were ants, were termites! Since I was quoted an exorbitant amount of money to treat the termites, I called several other pest control companies to see if I could get a lower quote.

The inspector from the third company was honest enough to tell me that the termites were isolated to the dresser and nightstand situated on opposite sides of my bedroom. She identified frass (termites droppings) and showed me the “kick out” hole from which the termites emerged, and said there was no need to treat my entire home. My options were to steam the furniture for $800 or get rid of it. I opted to get rid of it.

For over a week I tried contacting the store’s owner, Kimmie, and each time I called, was given a run around by employees who answered the phone. Finally, today, July 25, I was able to speak to Kimmie and she agreed this is a horrible situation. However, since I had the furniture for five months, she said there is nothing she can do. During our conversation she revealed that two years ago the store had a problem with termites, but each year the store is inspected, and currently there’s no problem. When I pointed out the store is full of merchandise and it would be difficult to see termites, she bristled and offered me a $200 credit to purchase different furniture. Declining, I told her I will NEVER purchase second hand furniture again. THE ONLY REASON GAVE A ONE STAR IS BECAUSE I WOULDN'T BE ABLE...

The first time I went to the store I made a purchase and approach the counter with every intention to drop my change into the donation box they have there at the counter. I handed the gentleman a $10 bill and he simply said thank you and drop the whole thing into the donation box. Since it was my intention to donate anyway, I let it go. My second time into the store was this past Tuesday. There was a chalkboard at the entrance that said 50% off all clothes. I found two little T-shirts and took them to the register. The gentleman tells me $8.56. Which I knew to be full price. At that point I said to him that I thought clothes were 50% off. He said no. I then pointed to the sign and asked why the sign then. His response was “oh, that was yesterday”. We both paused a bit and finally he said “OK, fine, four dollars!” I handed him a five dollar bill, told him to keep the change and suggested he take up the sign. As I made it outside I noticed a huge banner stretched across the whole front of the store with a sign that said all clothes 50% off. Clearly he was just trying to get more money out of me. I understand what they are doing for the animals and my heart breaks for the older ones that have no home. I understand that they are there to make money to take care of those animals but doing it in that way is not right. They should run the business appropriately and allow people to give as they so choose to give. Today, Friday August 19, 2022 for the very first time I walked into Fluff's Stuff Re- Tail for Rescue. So happy I did! I was greeted by a very nice gentleman named Glenn. He is so kind and patient with me. I had many questions about different items. I was so overwhelmed with all the wonderful merchandise, I had a hard time choosing which items I really wanted for the day. I would love to say, To all the people who donate money to Fluff's in this tough economy THANK YOU! To Glenn and all the volunteers that give their time to the rescues, that dedicate themselves to all the animals so that they can find good, loving homes THANK YOU! Without you being the animals voices and advocates they would be helpless animals! To Glenn and all the people who dedicate their time to rescue homeless animals are heroes!!! My new favorite store, I am a dedicated shopper from now on. I love animals myself so much that this is a place I definitely want to spend money because all your money goes to all the wonderful, beautiful animals that need rescuing!
