Cinema Centre 8 — Attraction in Shawnee

I usually have a very good experience here. Great popcorn, drinks, and service; however, on my visit here on 4/24/2022 around 4:30 pm, I had Layla as my cashier and found her to be quite rude with bad customer service. While waiting in line I had noticed her lazily toss a bag of M&Ms on the counter that the couple in front of me had ordered. When it was my turn to be served, I told her my order and found my candy to be tossed on the counter in the same manner as the M&Ms which resulted in a loud smacking sound. Then when I asked for a receipt, she sighed and said she would have to find someone to fix her device because it was being "janky" and shuffled off, only to come back and fix it herself without even talking to anyone or needing assistance in fixing it. After handing me my receipt, she kept her copy of it and quite literally smacked it down with her hand on the counter resulting in yet another loud smacking sound. Not sure if she was having a bad day, but that shouldn't be an excuse to smack items around on the counters while helping customers, much less while sighing around. 2 words: "Assigned Seats." If the place is full, ok, but it's super weird to pull up a chart of 100s of empty seats and have me choose exactly where I want to sit and negotiate with the receptionist at the counter. (I did not sit where I told her I was going to. Lol)

Also, they have an electrical issue. Once, sometimes twice a week, their power flickers. When that happens, the whole place resets. Every movie, and every kiosk. While waiting for an Internet connection, they can't process transactions.

That said, the employees are super kind and sweet. They are in the same boat in being annoyed by this, and they do what they can to manage the angry movie goers as calmly and as helpfully as possible.

Also I got lucky and the power flickering happens right before I started heading back to my movie, so I got to watch Superman all the way through with no issues (that the movie itself didn't provide. I'm a prude when it comes to Superman. He got beat up...

Visited this location on 7-21-24 to see the matinee showing of "Twisters". I like going to this theater since it's closer to where I live & I like that they have matinee prices available. The chips that are used for nachos aren't very good at this location. They are hard & stale. The salted pretzel bites are good but I wouldn't recommend the parmesan bites as they don't have any flavor to them. They have remodeled the theaters with new seating but both of the bathrooms are still very small. The theater was very clean & the sound was good. I would recommend purchasing the yearly AMC Stub Rewards or just going with the Free Stub Reward program if you choose to go with that program.
