It was my first time visiting, and I was appalled by the service we received. I noticed how busy it was when we arrived around 6 PM.
It's polite for servers to introduce themselves while welcoming guests, but we didn't receive any introduction. I figured it was just because they were busy. When we asked for sweet tea, we were given unsweetened tea instead. I hesitated to interrupt the servers, as I didn't want to come across as annoying.
The server deliberately avoided our table, so I paused what I was doing to try to get her attention. She provided phenomenal service to the tables around us, taking her time with each one and smiling. I felt like I had to make exaggerated movements and say something to catch her attention.
She didn't even look our way until I said something to her. I watched as she delivered tortillas to every table, taking the initiative to get them what they needed without waiting for anyone to ask. Meanwhile, I struggled to grab her attention.
When I finally asked her if we could also get tortillas, she responded, “All you had to do was ask.” Maybe she was having a bad day, but it felt like we were being treated differently from everyone else. I noticed her bringing tortillas to the tables in front of us and next to us without anyone needing to ask. I felt like a nuisance, but I remained polite, smiling at her while thanking her for the teas and the tortillas. Unfortunately, she couldn't even muster a smile or a polite response; I didn't feel welcomed at all.
Perhaps she was going through something difficult, but she shouldn't have taken it out on us. I tried to be understanding, but I was appalled watching her provide phenomenal service to other tables. She barely checked in on us and only came by a few times after our order arrived.
When my sister and I finished our meal and remained seated to catch up, the server repeatedly came by our table asking if we needed anything else, as if she was subtly trying to tell us to leave.
I felt like a burden, and I genuinely hope that whatever she is going through gets better. She must have been having a rough day. I will give the establishment another chance and hope it's just...
Read moreThis is the 3rd and last time we will visit this place. They no longer offer open seating at the bar, but that's just a disappointment, nothing to do with service or food. My husband and I are doing Keto, no chips, or tortillas, so we ordered the single Jalisco fajitas (Shrimp, Chicken & Steak) stir fried with tomatoes, bell peppers and onions. We intended to share this dish. The waitress informed us she would have to charge us $6.99 for a "set up" if we share, I'm familiar with this, however we did not want the set up, but my husband ate 1 chip, so she said you might as well order an appetizer. So I thought we'll ok, and got guacamole. Still keto friendly. We didn't eat the chips (FYI) so here come out fajitas! We started digging in and my husband CANNOT do spicy! It looked weird and I thought maybe I ordered wrong. Our waitress disappeared so I caught the hostess walking by and asked for a menu, well, I did order correctly, called the waitress over and asked what this red dogfood looking stuff was, and she said it's chorizo, I said we didn't order that and my husband can't eat it. I did separate as much out as I could but half the plate was chorizo. I told the waitress I wasn't paying for that and she said she would tell the manager. Manger never came, I got my ticket, still on there. I went and got the manager. She said yes, it is wrong, we messed up but you ate the other stuff but since you got mostly chorizo (half the plate) I will discount it. I said we can't take that home, just remake it and put it in a to-go box. (We wanted the food) She comes back and hands me a ticket with a discount of $8. She was rude and had this "I'm gonna win" attitude. So we paid for guacamole we didn't want to avoid paying for a set up we didn't ask for, then couldn't even take home our leftovers because our dish wasn't what we ordered. I didn't want "comped" food, I wanted the food we ordered. We got neither! $8 off for a horrible experience, rude manager, and non existent service. We will stick with El Tapiatio! Great service, great food, and friendly atmosphere! Manager and waiter refusal to make it right...
Read moreI was my first time, and i injoyed it. There we're so many people there that we were 3rd in line waiting for a table, and i did even mind cuz the people around me we're happy and joking, and the atmosphere was great, even chatted with a few and had some good laughs. The colors really brought delight to my eyes and made me feel good inside. The food was very, very good and the chips and salsa and cheese was very, very tasty and fresh, chips we're even hot, thats how fresh they we're. And i was not even charged for eating them like other Mexican restaurants now charge theses days, they even made sure i wanted more and poured it on me, Dam, i could go back now. Anyway, dont let me get started on the waiters, A+ they are the best around, as busy as it was, they still found time to cover the ground and made sure everyone had what they wanted and needed. Very polite in there return responses, i dont know, maybe i cought a good day, but i felt they all actually cared and not just felt like its just a job, i you know what i mean? And when all was said and done, here comes the bill, i could not believe it, i looked my girlfriend and told her, Look, is that all? Thats cheep, look at all the food we had on are table and still have lots of leftovers and i was stuffed. It is whats for Breakfast now. All in All, Great food, Great staff, Great price and wonderfull environment. Its my...
