We stayed over fro three nights during the 4th of July weekend, and were extremely pleased with the accommodations. Bridgette met us with a pleasant smile when we checked in Thursday afternoon, and let us know the breakfast times and handed over the key to the room. ||The B&B has two main buildings...there is the main house with some rooms, and then the barn structure in the rear of the property, which is where we had our room. Our room was cute, with quite the teddy bear scheme, and the bed was comfortable. As has also been mentioned, the room had it's own private shower/lavatory as well, which was clean and roomy enough. The room also had air conditioning, which was a godsend due to the heat...though the thermostat is not located in the room so our first night for some reason the cooling left something to be desired. But thankfully, there was a pedestal fan provided that we plugged in, and we rested comfortably the rest of the night. But other than the first night, no issues with the A/C. About the only upgrade that might be nice would be a ceiling fan as well...but more for ambiance than anything else. :-)||||Julia and I were actually in the area to attend my family reunion and sightsee, so other than coffee most mornings, we did not take advantage of the breakfast portion of the stay..but glancing over the spread while getting the morning coffees, it looked like lots of options, and could have been quite yummy. ||||The location is perfect for taking in all of the sights in the area....we took advantage of the Heritage Trail that runs right through Shipshewana, and the affiliated Quilt Gardens...plus the Pumpkinvine bike/walking trail is right there too. And we were also able to use the backyard of the B&B to take in the 4th of July fireworks in a comfortable, easy setting. And although we don't flea market ourselves, the B&B is perfectly placed for that if you are so inclined.||Only other items of note is that the Mom's Ice Cream just a little down the road is absolutely delicious...though also dangerous for the waistline! ;-)||||This is our first time staying here, but for future visits and family reunions, I definitely believe we will keep the Old Carriage...

Read moreThis is a fantastic location directly across from the new MEC and within walking distance of it. Bridgette, the owner/host, is a very friendly lady who lives in the basement when not mingling with her guests.||The only TV in the house was shared in the common gathering area (living room) only. There was no TV, internet, TP, or sleeping in my room with only a hollow core door between it and the common dining area. I could hear the guest in the next room speaking normally on her phone.||The lock on the door to my room was questionable but I didn't worry much having met the other guests at check in. I doubt there was any security from the outside. ||Breakfast just outside my room was okay self service; nothing special. Guests were loud - friendly but inconsiderate. ||The house is NOT wheelchair friendly. A wheelchair simply cannot get into the house. First floor of the barn may be accessible but be careful to check; I didn't look at them. A wheelchair will NOT be able to access the breakfast/kitchen area in the house. The host was nowhere to be found when I realized I could not plug in an electric scooter for an overnight charge. The next morning she offered a charge in the laundry room. I could have walked from the laundry room to the breakfast area but if you can't walk at all that will not work. I didn't have time to wait for a charge. ||Decor is extremely outdated and cramped. Imagine staying at Grandma's a generation or two ago. The old lift chair in my room was extremely worn with stuffing coming out of the arm. A twin bed was squeezed into the room at the foot of the larger bed. I was told I wouldn't be charged for the second bed if I didn't use it. I was quoted $55 for the night but was charged more before tax. I didn't argue because she had been really nice and I just wanted out.||I...
