LightHorse 4041 Apartments — Attraction in Shorewood

Beware of noise and a poorly maintained landscape around the property. I’ve lived here for about 5 months in a unit that faces North looking out on E Kenmore Pl. I am frequently woken up and disturbed while working from home by trucks backing up to the Metro Market dock. Between this noise and a view of a dumpster behind Metro Market (which has been full for 3 weeks), I have been unable to enjoy my balcony during Wisconsin’s limited summer season. Although LightHorse claims to be a smoke free community I have also been very disappointed to find cigarette buds littered around the front entrance and along the side of the building. I seldom post reviews online, however I feel that the premium I have been paying to live in this community has not been reflected in the quality of my experience or the general upkeep of the property. I will share that the apartment comes updated and the property management is professional, however I would caution against signing a lease for any apartment facing North towards E Kenmore Pl as the disturbances from the Metro Market dock/dumpsters are frequent.

We lived at LightHorse for 2.5 years and had a truly memorable experience. The building is located in a peaceful and vibrant neighborhood, with easy access to everything Shorewood has to offer: Walgreens, UPS, USPS, Metromarket, and the Green Line bus plus 10 min walk to lake. The management team is friendly, responsible, and always willing to help, making it a comfortable and secure place to call home. The apartment itself was clean, well-maintained, and offered beautiful views, especially from the west-facing balcony, where sunsets were absolutely stunning. The landscaping and design of the building add a calm, welcoming atmosphere. We also had great neighbors, which made our time there even more enjoyable. LightHorse became a meaningful part of our lives and felt like home from the very beginning. While the rent is a bit on the higher side and a few charges could have been communicated more clearly, especially about the annual rent increase and some hidden charges, it felt fair overall given the quality of the living experience. Overall, we are grateful for our time at LightHorse and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality place to live...

Honestly NOT a great place to live. Signed a 6 month lease with this property & moved out 2 months after . Mold in shower, fixtures cracked, carpet beyond dirty, curtains on by Velcro fell every night , Mary Jane throughout the basement, no maintenance, & no leasing agents ! While I couldn’t break my lease like I wanted to I kept my things there hoping maintenance would come take care of the issues. 6 months later still the same problem … new leasing agent was super snotty with fixing my issues ! They were fine with letting me break my lease around 4 months in because they knew they could not fix my issues . Neighbors complained about my same issues !
