My doctor recommended I consider buying a pair of Hoka running shoes. My doctor is a long distance runner, having recently completed his fourth rim-to-rim run of the Grand Canyon. He also recommended Performance Outfitters.
I went to the Performance Outfitters store in Shorewood and was greeted by Eden, who offered to help me with my shoe selection. We were able to narrow the choice down to the Hoka Bondi 7. Unfortunately, the store and other Performance locations did not have this particular shoe in stock.
Eden checked further and found that the store was unable to order the shoe directly from Hoka. They were backordered and experiencing supply chain issues.
Eden checked even further and found the shoe available direct and in stock on the Hoka web site. She told me the best option would be to order the shoe on line, directly from Hoka.
Eden also told me it was the store's philosophy not to attempt to switch prospective customers into a different shoe...one that might be in stock in the store. She apologized for being unable to fulfil my Hoka shoe requirement. I ordered it online, as Eden suggested.
My five star review is based on my unique experience with Performance Running Outfitters and Eden. The organization and Eden, in particular, were more interested in my overall satisfaction than making a quick...
Read moreHave bought multiple pairs of shoes here for my self and several family members. Have always been so impressed with the care and help we’ve received here. Special shout out to Brice/Bryce, who fitted myself and a couple other family members. The whole process of getting shoes here is so different than many other places I have been. The fitting and analysis to provide the best shoes has been game changing. My wife and I, both with bum knees, have gotten so much aid from being put in the right pairs of shoes. Honestly, I no longer have the same knee pain I had! Great choices of shoes and gear. Also, love how it doesn’t just cater to experienced runners, but staff I’ve worked with is just as enthusiastic to help fit for waking shoes, etc. Can’t imagine I’d go anywhere else for...
Read moreLots of running shoe brands and styles to choose from. Staff were knowledgeable and allowed me to try on as many shoes as I pleased. The also let me try them on their treadmill, videotaping me and playing the video tape back so I could observe my gait. I would rate them a 5 star, but they sold me a pair of minimalist shoes without giving a full warning regarding the lack of forefoot cushion in the shoe. It's taken a little getting used to. That said, these were the most comfortable shoes that I tried on that day, so the warning likely would not have changed my decision. I also like the extent to which the store has established itself as part of the local running community, sponsoring race events and local run and...
