Let me start by saying, I don’t like to leave bad reviews! For every bad review I give 5 good reviews.
I thoroughly enjoyed dining at the Bayview location and gave them 5 stars. Shorewood location was well below par. I’m giving 2 Stars because the waiter was friendly and the c-viche was tasty.
The waiter asked which order we would like our dishes to come out. The order was incorrect and the timing was way off. Because the timing was off, we had 3 dishes on our table which made our table extremely cramped for a table of two.
We ordered two appetizers. The mixto c-viche and grilled octopus. The mixto c-viche which was fresh and tasty. However, the grilled octopus and ribeye came out at the same time. The octopus wasn’t good and I love octopus. It was very rubber-like which it shouldn’t be if prepared properly. The ribeye for $56 should have been prepared to order but was precooked. We ordered medium rare, the ribeye was cooked to the correct temperature at some point, however at medium rare if it was made to order it would have been juicy. It was clearly precooked and reheated which made it taste worse than leftovers because it had most likely been prepared a day or two ahead of time? Updating my review after reading about the owner’s behavior with the female employees. Google it.
I hope they improve greatly with time because I’ve enjoyed their other location. Shorewood is in great need of more nice restaurants that provide a great culinary experience.
Now, off to give 5...
Read moreDined with a friend last night. Other reviews mention noise. We sat next to a man playing guitar. We had no problem talking for two hours over dinner and drinks. If you want a quiet setting go early. Otherwise I find the energy of a busy restaurant part of the charm. I’d rather hear background noise vs restaurants that sit you so close you literally hear every word of your table neighbor. Now the good part-the food! Everything was flavorful, fresh and beautifully presented. The best part of the menu is that it offers options for less adventurous and more adventurous eaters. We had the guacamole and plantain appetizer. Fresh and not greasy in the least. The ceviche de cameron was made with wild shrimp (no farm raised garbage) so the texture and taste was superb. You could order this to share or as a meal. We also shared the hanger steak tacos. The meat was very tender. The accompaniments added so much in terms of freshness and flavor. It came with rice and beans which 90 percent of the time I don’t eat because it’s usually tasteless mush. Not here. These were incredible. We had spicy Palomas that were very spicy, which we loved. Will go back soon. There is so much more to the menu I want to explore. Service was great as well.
Went again for taco night. Tacos were great. This time the ceviche was way overcooked. The shrimp was very...
Read moreHello everyone! I’m writing this review as a disappointed Peruvian. Me and my husband went there the other day. He ordered the 63$ steak plate and i ordered the Pollo a la brasa, to whoever that has never tried the Peruvian chicken PLEASE DONT ORDER THAT HERE!! It’s the worst pollo a la brasa that I’ve ever tried IN MY LIFE!! Not even in the cheapest restaurant in Peru you have such a bad quality chicken plus it was a mini mini chicken. -The ceviche was good, I like the fish a little more cook in the lemon but it was okay, more onion would had been appreciated. -The huancaina was the worst, my husband is American and I’ve made huancaina sauce at home and even him was like what kind of joke it’s this? -His steak was okay, a lot of tendons and fat but it was tasty. -Fries were delicious!✅ -The home made churros were hard, didn’t like it. -The 3 leches was good! Like it! ✅ -We didn’t have any alcoholic drink. The waitress was nice but he had a little bit of attitude, he kind of argued with me about something very stupid, we still left him a tip. Me and my husband left the restaurant feeling it was the worst 155$ ever spent + we drove 40 min to there. A better Peruvian restaurant in the area would be Chef Paz....
