I am usually not a person to leave reviews whatsoever but what I won’t tolerate is rude customer service on top of an extremely below average gym. Be sure to check their Facebook page for the remainder of this review, since it exceeds Google's character limit.
But if you’re looking to consider Gold's go ahead and read this before you sign any contracts:
I've been a member of Golds since December 2019, and have attended regularly since January 2021. Until Monday and today, I have not been in this gym since January 24th since I took a little break before Christmas. I've been attending this gym despite its extreme uncleanliness, lack of customer service, the overwhelming stench of either straight sewage or tons of bleach (no in between), and overcrowding. In all my time going to this gym I've also had to rerack plates from barbells put there by other individuals, rerack dumbbells/plates/sleds in the space I needed while on the floor, and go searching for kettle bells that have been left in random areas throughout the gym. As I usually attend this gym in the early morning, there’s typically either an employee sleeping at the front desk, or no one there at all. If you’re a beginner and looking to attend this gym after work during the week or you’re simply don’t do morning workouts, don’t sign it. It’s extremely crowded weekday afternoons since this is the only location near Antioch/Smyrna/Lavergne. I have been to the Murfreesboro locations before and they were better quality with better customer service. I even have enrolled my own mother in this gym so we could work out together and have been paying her memberships since I believe March of 2021. My mom recently told me she went up to the front desk one morning for more cleaning solution and was told by the person sitting there that they don’t even work there so they couldn’t help her (???) I’m still not sure what’s going on there. This is advertised as a 24/7 gym but there have been multiple mornings my mom has arrived to the gym and they were closed. And no, the owner does not refund you for the days the gym is closed without warning and you aren’t able to utilize the membership. I will urge anyone looking to attend a gym that isn't Planet Fitness wait for the new gym being built on Edge-O-Lake & 70 be completed. It is called Tru-Fit Athletic Club.
*The only employee I've actually witnessed working is a female employee with purple hair. Sadly, I can’t remember her name but, she's spoken before and has been very friendly to both me and my mom. On days she's working she's very attentive and available when you need her, whether that’s on the floor putting away tools/weights, or at the front desk. *Their assistant manager, Chandler however really did it for me this morning and with that being said I will be canceling my membership on Friday. He's rude and inconsistent which isn't really a good look when trying to enforce a rule that I guess doesn't...

Gym Pro's: $$$'s - $5 every other week with a single $40 payment a month after joining. Large and spacious. Lots of equipment with multiples of each piece which helps when traffic is high. Large area for Free weights with multiple sets of each weight. Ton of cardio equipment. Large open space with rubber floor for whatever you want to do (kettle bells, push/pull a weighted sled, stretch on a mat). Music is actually good. (I've been places where it was terrible and forced you to wear headphones just to not hear the house music) Sauna in the locker room. 3 showers (1 being handi-capped) Open cardio theater. Hand-sanitizer in the bathroom. Soap in the showers with a separate privacy curtain for changing at your shower.
Gym Con's: (most are not on the gym floor, but in the locker room) They could really use a better water station in the front. The need another water station on the floor close to the cardio theater. Lockers are cheap particle board and have about 1/3 with doors totally missing. Lockers are a single 36" size with a cubby installed in the top leaving less than a normal size to hang clothes. This makes everyone have to hang their garments on the outside of the locker exposed. There is/are no carpets/rugs in the locker room. Just cold, painted cement. (I never realized how much I actually liked this at a gym until I didn't have it after a shower in the locker area. The men's sink area is about 4 feet with 2 sinks about a foot away from a urinal with no splash guard. There is no room to put anything. Only 2 short benches for probably 50+ lockers. There are no hair dryers. There are no hand blower dryers and very frequently out of paper towels (which sits on a roll on the counter instead of in a dispenser so you can imagine how nasty it gets.
Overall review: 2 stars for me as I require a shower after my workout and to get ready to go to work for the day. The locker room actually blows the whole rating. If I only had to workout and not shower, I would probably give 4.5 stars to this place. So, if that is all your going to do and you are serious about working out, this may be even better than Planet Fitness for you given the amount of great equipment. **They have a kid area, but after going to the YMCA and comparing the two, I probably wouldn't leave smaller children in there.
I hope this...
Read moreATTENTION FRANCHISE OWNER OR CORPORATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to say this is the dirtiest and the worst gym I have ever been to and I have visited gyms from Memphis to Miami among many other places!! We visited the gym in South Murfreesboro and signed up, had I visited this branch, which I use as it is on the way to work, I would have most DEFINITELY gone with a competitor!! If I could get a refund I would do so as getting up earlier to use the other branches is not an option!! The equipment is never wiped down and very evident and confirmed to me by putting smiley faces in the dust and seeing them a week later only disappearing because they were covered in more dirt. It makes it so much worse that I have rarely seen any member wipe down their equipment and there is no way the staff here can not know this....well there is but we will get to that!! There is rarely bottles of cleaner or towels available and this is at 5:30 a.m. This could be explained, not justified, by the fact that I have returned the following day to see a bottle I saw the day before sitting by the same machine. As for the equipment it is old and worn in many places, just like the rest of this building, and the machines requiring cables probably have not seen any grease in years as you can hear the squeaking and squealing over full volume on the phone. Some of the spinning bikes wheels don't spin and straps are broken. The day staff are complacent at best, with little to no personality and permanently looking at their phone rather than paying attention to their surroundings or the cleanliness of function of this gym. I could go on and on, but I think it is apparent that this gym needs a complete overhaul from paint, equipment and staff!! Looking at the pictures on the wall from the opening the franchisee or corporate must have been so proud of their new baby....now it is more of a dysfunctional...
