The owner is a nice guy and made this event feel closer to home. He was great at explaining our personal responsibilities and answering any questions. We had a great time! The tubes come in many sizes, if it doesn't fit right, ask for a smaller or bigger one, no problem. The $20 let's you rent a tube for an hour and it's an all you can slide affair! All other stores nearby let you RENT snow equipment for $30, so Hansens is a great deal! I personally couldn't do more than 6 runs because the hike back up is tiring while holding a 2 year old. My 7 year old did about 10 runs but he has a lot of energy, and slept the whole 3 hour ride back home. At 1pm, the wait was about 15 minutes, not a long wait. CASH ONLY! Advice: Go early in the morning when it first opens so the ride down is smooth. Towards the end of the day, the tubes get stuck in the middle and you have to get off and run the rest of the way. We got there about 1pm and by 2:30pm most the customers were stopping half way down. My last run lead my tube to get caught on a footprint and I made it down to the bottom wayyy before my tube did. It was fun, but my pants were cold. Con: the man that waits at the top to assist us would light a cigarette in between the short gaps of customers coming up. Too many kids around to be smoking up there!! Do that on your break or when you get off please. ** When we returned our tubes, we walked directly across the street to build a snowman and have snow fights. It was a fun trip to South Lake Tahoe...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible! The man who was at the top of the hill setting up people and their tubes to go down was INCREDIBLY RUDE! He yelled at my aunt, my mom, my little sisters, and I. My aunt was simply taking pictures of my little sisters and he told us to get out of there and to never bring our phones out again amongst other things. It was humiliating to be treated that way when we saw him allowing other people to have their phones out, waiting for people to get their camera recording before sending them down, and what not. Also, I thought that if I helped him out by setting myself up after witnessing him yell the nastiest things to my mom and aunt, I was going to make it easier for myself, but nope. He stood there and made me scoot myself. He had said “since you want to do everything yourself, you don’t need my help to push you off.” I do not recommend ever coming here! While there, we came across other people also experiencing the same treatment. We did not even use our whole hour. We gave our tubes to another family so they didn’t have to pay for such a horrible service....
Read moreThis tube hill is fun but honestly overpriced. My gf really wanted to do this so we sucked up the now increased 40 dollar per hour per person of tubing. You can only pay in cash and the guy overseeing the top of the tube hill where you drop down is brash like a 90s bowling alley general manager. You have to climb to the top yourself so the main advantages of this hill are that it is pre-packed/guided and that you borrow the pre-inflated tubes.
There are quite frankly better adventures you can do nearby for just a little more money that offer you a lot more. You can tell a lot of people were put off by the price as the adjacent hill has lots of people sliding (for free) with their own gear on a slightly less tended to slope. The main advantage of this is that it was actually not hyper crowded so we had a chance to use it a fair bit.
If money is no object to you you might like this hill. But if money is no object you are probably staying at one of the nearby resort hotels and spending every day...
