From the first hello with Amanda it was a different experience than the previous experiences I had with calling other properties. We tend to take for granted how important that first impression of your establishment is and you better have someone with strong hospitality skills as it can make or break a potential booking. It's like monopoly, if you don't pass go, you don't collect 200.00 dollars! I had booked about a month out and the upstairs room I wanted wasn't available, but guess what, when they had a cancellation, who called? That's right, Amanda! When my husband and I arrived we were met with a big smile and a gracious spirit. It makes a difference when people love what they do and Amanda loves the hospitality business and she demonstrates that in everything she does. She even offered her cell phone should we need her beyond the normal business hours. She offered great suggestions on where to eat and various things to do since we visited during off season. I was celebrating my birthday and came back to the room to a personal note and a bottle of my favorite wine. This girl is paying attention to details my friend! She gets it! I haven't even gotten to the rooms! Awesome. The lay out is great, the beds are wonderful, the views are so pretty especially at night when they turn the lights on. Location is close to everything. Amanda remembered from our conversation that I would be traveling to Arizona and visiting Sedona in four weeks and upon my check out she had hand written 2 pages of suggestions from things to do, various hikes, places to see the best sunsets, live music, food. She even told me once I was there if I had any questions to give her a call. Now that's what I call the Royal treatment! She is a first round draft pick! Whoever hired her knocked it out of the park. Well done. Thank you Amanda for making our stay so memorable and for being you. I would highly recommend...
Read moreThe hotel is cosmetically nice. Updated bathrooms, that sort of thing.
The housekeeping staff is super sweet and accommodating.
What will we remember about The Lodge? Unfortunately, the unbearable noise. We had a downstairs suite and you can hear every single stomping footstep upstairs. All of them. It’s not the guests it’s the floor. We were there 5 nights and the guests upstairs changed so it’s not one particularly noisy group. Every time someone moves a chair, the ceiling shakes. Door closes? Walls shake. Proof: when we checked in, a group of 6 wall hangings was aligned and straight in a grid. After all the door slamming and wall shaking, they were all off kilter. All the doors even the ones down the hallway shake the room. It’s like a torture echo chamber.
On the first night we called at midnight to ask management to ask upstairs to quiet down. In any other normal hotel, management would just knock and say something like “ hi hope you’re settling in nicely, we’ve had some noise complaints so if you could keep it down it’d be appreciated.” Nope. Management instead came, knocked on my door 4x and called me twice. Why, if I’ve already said my kids are trying to sleep and I’m complaining of noise, would I want door knocking and phone ringing? In the end management did nothing as they said they could not hear any noises.
The next morning at 6 the elephants upstairs RAN back and forth with their dog, shaking the entire earth in the process. Then after much door slamming, they left. The dog proceeded to bark for an hour straight. I don’t mean one yip here and there. I mean 40 barks per minute...for an hour straight. No one did anything.
It’s a cute property. But if you don’t get a guaranteed upstairs room, cancel your reservation unless you’re deaf. I’m writing this at 1 am, unable to sleep because of the stomping and building demolishing noises going...
Read moreOnly after staying at this wonderful place we understood why everyone was so raving about. This place has definitely gone above and beyond the whole industry of hospitality. Ever since we have arrived we were greeted by the most pleasant hostess. She explained in detail all of the policies and procedures and gave amazing suggestions for sight viewing and dining. She walked us to our room and showed us how everything works. The rooms are exceptionally clean. Even though they didn’t have official housekeeping until you move out-they were cleaner than any other hotels that we have recently been to. Now let me brag about how caring the culture of this place is: they put coffee and water and oatmeal and candy complimentary while other hotels of such a level charge you for the air you breath. Such a detail that doesn’t cost too much for the business makes a HUGE difference for us as a guest. It makes you feel welcome. Please don’t ever change that! Each room has a nice and cozy fireplace which makes you fall in love with the room and you don’t wanna leave. We even ended up staying for one more night than expected. They have a nice private yard and it’s pet friendly. Normally you may think that you would notice it by the smell, but like I have mentioned before the rooms were EXECEPTIONALLY CLEAN and odor free. Even though we didn’t have a dog, but I did notice how caring they were by providing the cloths to wipe the paws of the four legged friends. I have not been impressed with any hotels in my life as much as I was with this one. And next time we visit Tahoe-there is no questions about where we shall stay again. Thank...
