I love the granite library, and this is why I give it 5 stars. I've been here about 30 minutes and haven't even been inside yet. The full astroturf lawn is super comfortable to just kick back on while you siphon a bit of electricity from one of their many outdoor power outlets. Yeah there's nothing much quite like getting some free electricity in this ever inflating world. As an added bonus I can hardly hear the kids on the near by playground as they disobey out loud and assault each other both verbally and physically despite their parents protests and empty threats. It's a nice day and the shade from this little stage looking thing is perfect right now at 1:03 pm. I had a welcome mat made.out of this same terf once you know the one with the little daisy on the corner, well it was advertised to be able to hold up to a few pounds of dirt from people shoes.....I can't help but wonder how many pounds this lawn is holding. Hmmm, still I lounge next to your power outlet dorky charging my way back up to 3% and slowly but surely this rather downtrodden looking young man keeps waking way to close to my bike not to notice. But he's not going to commit....I can see it in his eyes. Yep it's a fair weathered so so kind of day and that's how we love it down here at the granite library.

Clean, open, airy, this new library is pretty great. There's also a few private study rooms and like a project room with a ton of amenities. A beautiful display case highlights granite high school's history. The rope course area outside is also a ton of fun even though it's designed for kids up to 12, my husband and I went on it-wear proper shoes next time.

Please do mosquito abatement for your library around spring time, since it's on the creek with standing water, was outside in front of the library for 5 minutes near the strawberry patch, and got allergic reaction to half a dozen mosquito bites. Swollen elbow and thigh. They look like lyme disease but itches like crazy.

Great outside are includes climbing ropes for children along with adult exercise equipment space. Nice library with lots of natural light.

Not a great space to study. During my encounter, the librarian's philosophy is that children may swear obscenely, advocating that this is their right of free speech. I totally see the value of giving kids safe spaces to be themselves, but it's not prodictive to discourage children from developing an awareness for others around them. Ironically, I only mentioned language to the kids and library staff when the content became sexually explicit, but the librarian seemed to assume my approaching her was an opportunity to show the kids she was willing to back up and defend their free speech. She did end up agreeing that their speech was inappropriate when I explained the issue further. It did not provide any lasting impact, however.

"Libraries, no matter their size, contain an enormous wealth of viewpoints and are responsible for making those viewpoints available to all," -Americal Librarian Association

Culture and accessibility matters. The role of a library is to facilitate these things in a non political non discriminatory manner. Suggestion for the library, modeling finding reasonable middle ground within respectful conversation, and an awareness of how we affect each other will serve these kids more than free access. Libraries build up our communities, and kids playing games on computers is just one small part of the available resources. Anything you can do to safeguard these resources in full is much appreciated.

Another library maybe more peaceful, especially if you...

Very cool and impressive creative lab / maker's space. 3D printers, laser cutter, heat press, sewing machine, serger, embroidery machine, cricut, and a small audio/visual studio space with a green screen.

I'm teaching a friend to sew. We reserved time on the sewing machine (two hour blocks, with a library card) and checked in with the attendant. But we also saw people who walked in and just gave their library card number to use stations.

We were also loaned a kit with scissors, rotary cutter, bobbins, clips, pins, measuring tape and manuals. It had black and white thread for the sewing machine and a bunch of colored embroidery thread for the embroidery machine. (I didn't ask, but probably bring your own colored thread if you want to do seams with something other than black and white.) There was also an iron and ironing board.

It was a great space!...
