Background: I adopted Dirk from the sf shelter about 6 months ago. He’s not had an issue previously at other dog parks or play dates. He was also examined by a behaviorist at the shelter. This is more just one bad experience. I came here on 6/5/24 around 1445-1500 with my dog Dirk, who has previously been in this park before. As dogs, they sniff and try to dominate. A dog, similar to Drik’s height but stockier, tried to dominate. As any dogs that react, a check and warning was given. The women and I both separated our dogs. They left each other alone. Not even 1 minute later, the woman told me that I needed to leash my dog because her dog got bitten. And that my dog is ill trained, and inappropriate to be at a park unleashed. I’m sorry, it literally a dog park, and these things happen. Also, last time I checked, at least in nyc, dogs have to be neutered or spayed prior to entering a dog park… or is this not a thing in california? Her dog actually came back later and tried to play to Dirk again. This conversation was getting nowhere, especially when feelings are involved and parenting skills are being questioned. Her dad chimed in. And out of respect for older people, I decreased my tone and defensiveness. But I did call for a park recreation because it was getting nowhere. Especially when being threatened about posting Dirk on the internet and reporting to have my dog taken. She aggressively demanded my dog’s vet information, while not giving the vice versa. Sorry, after all of this, who would feel comfortable? Dirk(dog) has been at centennial park multiple times and this was not an issue previously. I’m more than fine to take responsibility because I know Dirk has all his shots, paperwork, and registration. So, if someone knows this woman or how these rules work, plz let me know and I’m more than happy to provide information via a mediator. I did call the park and recreations folks and followed up about 15 minutes later to see if someone would come out. But the other party was nowhere to be seen anymore. Oh… and my dog is...

Not an easy place to find but good dog park for this area. A chain link fence separates these 2 dog run areas. One side is a small area for dogs that are small or elderly and the other side is for larger dogs and those who want/need more running room. Basically the larger dog area is a running track that is a 1/4 mile once around, with bark chips in the middle area and astro turf in a small area near the entrance. Also both sides have a fountains for filling up your dog bowls and letting your dogs get water. Also both have benches to sit located off to the side near entrance that has a shaded awning. Poop bags in small area is near entrance, whereas poop bag in large area is at 1/8 mile turn, where there is a another access point to enter, but with no 2nd waiting area into park. This entrance has immediate access but most do not enter here as there is no parking lot nearby. I like coming here because of the larger running space for my dog, and because sometimes if it's not a lot of people there, the crows will land in the middle area and my dog will chase them. However a word of caution, they're at times, not always, can be aggressive dogs in here with not the most mindful owners. I always take my dog in the smaller place first and check first what type of dogs are in the larger area before taking him over there. For the most part, people are friendly and pick up after they're dog(s).Also has lots ...

There should be a better rating system! The facility is 5 stars! The turf run, the very convenient drinking station, the large open space, and walking path around the edge is really wonderful. And the two separate dog pens for small or large dogs! The dog owners and/or their dogs is a different rating. Out of the 4 or 5 times I've been to the park, almost everytime an aggressive dog and inattentive owner has been there and my dog got scared (and I was scared) and we left soon after getting there. To be fair the majority of dog owners and dogs are very nice and friendly, but it only takes one aggressive dog and/or inattentive owner to ruin everyone's time..

I got super lucky yesterday when we had the whole place almost to ourselves and a few other great dogs came and we had a blast. No growling, no fighting, no "he's usually...

This dog park is awesome. It has separate places for big dogs and small dogs. I have two small dogs but there are big dogs inside the small dog area. None the less the big dogs were gentle and was not aggressive at all towards the smaller dogs. All the dogs there are very social and sweet. There is a drinking fountain in the middle and there was a bowl there already. The large dog park is massive. There is enough room for the big dog to run around. Didn't see too much of it but from a quick glance it went far. My only gripe is that there isn't much shady area but that didn't really bother me too much. There are spots where you can sit down and have shade

Between this park and the adjacent Orange Memorial Park, there are roughly 50 parking spots. In the large dog/all dogs section there is a stretch of artificially turf which is excellent for fetch. The remainder of the space—wood chips. Fencing all around, roughly 3 feet in height. Sturdy, strong gates with hinges & stirrup latches in fine condition. Agility tunnels. Dog jumps with adjustable height. A pavilion for shade. Two water stations.
