Got Pastrami + Prime Rib. Pastrami was STACKED. And it was about $14. The sandwiches are gigantic in width, bigger than your forearm. The pastrami was really flavorful, but I’ve definitely had multiple spots with better quality/tasting meats. DEFINITELY ABOVE AVERAGE however, and is good enough to go back to for just this sandwich.
Prime rib, unfortunately, had basically no meat. Couldn’t even feel it chewing or taste it because it was so little in comparison to the rest of the sandwich. Regardless, the sauces/bread/and veg were all good. The bread being the most notably above average. Wouldn’t say any were great, but definitely solid at the least.
They, also, didn’t put the add ons my partner added and paid for. They weren’t busy so I’m not sure how often mistakes like this happen when they are. Not the end of the world but something to keep in mind; check before you leave.
Overall, the food was pretty good taste and quality. Portion size was a great deal, better than you’ll find probably 99% elsewhere. If you’re looking for the best sandwiches, this probably isn’t it. But if you want good sandwiches for a great deal, with very good bread, this is a great place.
Side note: the sourdough is good but it’s too stiff of a crust for a dry sandwich (not practical, has absolutely 0 chew so it doesn’t break). Not a good idea for something with so many scattered, frayed toppings. You would only use this thick of a roll for a wet sandwich (ie french dip). Still tasted great and loved the bread texture. Crust was enjoyable but just not a good pick for these. So I’d highly recommend the Dutch.

I love sandwiches and was chatting with a new friend about fave sandwich spots 😋All of my faves are in SF proper because I don’t leave the city 😅 but new friend said I HAD to check out Little Lucca.
Sure enough, I left my phone in a Lyft & had to head south to pick it up. Enter a treat from Little Lucca with the new friend who told me about it. Wow. Life sure is funny sometimes.
We grabbed my phone, grabbed sandwiches before 10:30am (short wait in line, was a relatively quick in & out at that hour though), and made it back to the city to enjoy in the sun on a park bench in Dolores.
He got the Buffalo Chicken with ranch (spicy ranch? Or maybe the other option was spicy blue cheese? Pick one of the two for this sando). I had a bite and can definitely understand why it’s my friend’s fave. He is a big dude and saved half for later.
At first I was overwhelmed by options & could not decide, was learning toward chicken parm or chicken cordon bleu (is a fam fave recipe), but ended up going with the ultimate club after I heard someone else order it. After all, bacon makes everything better. I chose provolone for my cheese & that was the right decision! 10/10. The sandwich is literally longer than the length of my face (see photo) & honestly enough for three meals (I eat well but the amount of bread & protein def can be spread out lol or YOLO & eat it all at once, you do you, booboo!). I ate half and saved the other for din…I’m sitting here typing this at 4:45pm & my mouth is watering thinking about sinking my teeth into it 🤤
I don’t have a car so won’t be making frequent treks to LL, but if you’re in the ‘hood, it’s def...
Read moreGenuinely surprised at how bad the sandwiches are considering all the hype this place gets.
I had the ultimate club w/ swiss on Dutch crunch with all the standard toppings and here were my issues…
They use low quality, thick, gelatinous cheap deli meat. The turkey and ham were bouncy, slimy, and generally did not taste fresh. Or good. The garlic spread is ok but it overpowers every other flavor on the sandwich (obviously, it’s garlic). Tomatoes were mealy. Microwaved bacon? Seriously?
Aside from that, I think I just don’t like Dutch crunch bread. I gave it another shot here because it seems to be the popular choice, but it is just not good to me. It’s too thick and it’s so sweet that it makes the sandwich taste like a desert. Why is it so sweet?
On top of that, the whole process of acquiring said sandwich took 45 minutes. It was a Saturday afternoon so I get it. And I went into it knowing and expecting to wait a while, so that was fine. The food just doesn’t warrant a 45 minute wait. I think people in the Bay just assume that food has to be good just because there is a long line…
The customer service was really solid though and everyone there works their butts off even if they’re a tad slow (at least compared to your run of the mill NY deli). The vibes inside are fun and sorta energetic in an old school deli sort of way. You can really feel the customers eagerly anticipating their orders, so that part is also kinda cool.
Good on you guys for bringing in all the business, I just wish you wouldn’t use such low quality deli meats. I wouldn’t return or recommend to anyone unless they are fine with slimy,...
