Wow, this place had amazing reviews so I was so excited to try it, and the food was very tasty and the chips/salsa were exceptionally good, but I was most outraged by the price I paid and the dishonesty and lack of integrity of the waiter (or the deceptive nature of the restaurant’s menu)….. $5.00 for a can of coke, and the menu had fountain beverage price listed as $4.00, I have never paid more than $2.00 for a can. When I buy them at Safeway they are around fifty cents each when I buy a 24 pack, and I expect a markup but not a 10x markup. The price of a can was not on the menu so I assumed it would be less than the fountain ….. Also the burrito was listed on the menu for $15 but somehow the price was inflated to $17.95 on the check. I was in a rush so I paid it and left, but on reflection I really felt I was taken advantage of and exploited and the sheer dishonesty the waiter (young guy and this was around 1:30 pm on 2/14/25) had completely ruined the experience. Lastly, the food was served warm ish, not hot. Massive disappointment and I had to leave a bad review to warn others of the experience. Photo is posted as evidence.

NO WAY THIS ISN’T 5 STAR ALL DAY!!!!! This place was so good. Authentic! Great staff who were helpful with recommendations. A great atmosphere complete with music and dancing. It is “split” slightly so you have a restaurant in one side and a bar in the other. I would have sat in either and had a blast. The food was excellent. Steak Trancas were to die for and I would go back in a second. This really is a must try if looking for authentic Mexican food in the San Fran area!!! BEWARE - their house spicy salsa, the darker one, has a good deal of kick to it.

You better come hungry. The vegetarian wet burrito was massive. It was stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, grilled corn and all the fixins’. The ingredients were high quality. These were not your cheap small mushrooms. The flavors were well balanced. I normally don’t like veggies in my burrito but this was delicious. The salsas were super fresh and amazing. One was spicy and the other was mild. The outdoor dining was spacious and the service was impeccable.

Update 12/22. The food and service have rebounded and we put :as Trancas back on our list. We have been dining here on a regular basis with family and friends, for 25 years and have noticed a recent decline in quality. Could be a change in cooks? Or perhaps because we dine in the late afternoon? We have noticed fluctuations in food preparation quality as well as pricing for my Top Shelf Margaritas. Today instead of a fluctuation between $9 - $12 for my drink we were billed $14. My wife ordered the $11.95 2 Taco Combination Plate requesting Carne Asada RARE. It was over cooked and tasted like old refrigerated meat. AND, we were billed $15.95!!! The waitress said it costs more if you request Carne Asada, or Shrimp etc. I pointed out that this IS NOT noted anywhere in the menu. She basically shrugged her shoulders. This is inexcusable!!! I am writing this in hopes that Las Trancas management will read this criticism as they don't have a website with a contact us option. We are disappointed to scratch these guys off as one of our local...

I really wanted to like this place as it’s near where I live and the reviews were promising. I’ll start off with the good: staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean, portions are very large. The bad: not very authentic Mexican food, to start off they don’t even have horchata or any aguas frescas for that matter. I ordered the 3 enchilada plate and my husband ordered menudo. To further explain how unauthentic it is my chicken enchilada was stuffed with pieces of carrots, celery and potatoes (no authentic Mexican enchilada should have this, it’s not a chicken pot pie) the sauce was also very sweet. My husband’s menudo had a foul smell my guess is it has to do with the way they prep and clean it prior to cooking. The food was so bad we didn’t bother finishing half of it , we asked for the check and drove to...
