SPEAKING TO POKEMON ONLY: Card store should be rated by three things. Prices, selection, and customer relationship. 1st. Everything is overpriced. Owner claims that everything is market value but according to TCG player and many other sites, it's not. Also any shop that has a distributor and is paying distributor prices has plenty of room to sell things at MSRP and still make money. Buying things from a distributor and then selling them at market value is just scalping with a shop. I highly advise checking out TCG House of cards, TCG player or eBay before coming in. 2nd. He's told me before that he buys things at 30% of market value. Any vendor you find online will pay you upwards of 85%. I understand he has rent to pay but again House of cards in Worcester pays far more and has great prices. 3rd. Single selection is horrible. Same cards that were there a year ago and everything is far over market. Sometimes double. Even the box with cheaper singles are above market for near mint and cards are all beat up. Same thing with sealed product. Selling same boxes that you can get on eBay for less money. Carries no Japanese and I've never seen anything there except maybe once or twice that people aren't having trouble selling online. I'd be surprised if he stays in business another year and if he does it's only propped up by people looking to rip...
Read moreBig Daddy Collectibles is a super neat shop with a great variety of sports cards, game cards, and other collectibles, e.g. Funko Pops, Pokemon, Magic, manga books, etc.
The gentleman behind the counter was extremely kind, knowledgeable, and helpful! I'm not a collector personally, but accompanied my coworker (sports card collector) here as we're visiting from out of state on a work trip.
As someone who knows little about sports, card trading/value, etc. when I say I enjoyed the Q&A and learned a lot in store, I mean it! I even made a purchase for my 10 year old daughter! definitely check it out if you're a collector, know someone who is, or are just looking for a new place to putter and shop around on the weekend! you might be surprised to find something for yourself or a gift for a loved one at Big Daddy Collectibles!
I'd rate a 12/10 on product variety, customer service, product knowledge and being a neat place to stop in and see what...
Read moreNice card shop. There are lots of different cards to choose from. Baseball, football, Pokémon, pretty much most cards you may be looking for. They also had quite of bit memorabilia, bunch signed too. We stopped in since my kids were looking for One Piece Cards. We bought a bunch of packs, about 13, but got a little sticker shocked when they rang me up, and it was over $250. Pricing looked like they were $5.99 a pack, but they were actually $18.99 a pack. Understand price and demand, but that might be a little high. They don't have a lot of competition in the area, so convenience can be another factor. Not upset by it, I had no idea going rate, did no research, so a little due diligence might help when you're shopping. Very friendly owner and helpful, wouldn't hesitate to go back if I was looking for something if I was...
