World Coin and Currency — Attraction in Southbury

Ok, let me preface this story by saying that I was completely BLOWN AWAY by the exceptional knowledge, customer service, empathy and excitement delivered by the owner Tom. I have been searching for a 1914–D penny for my Dad. He had one as a young boy in 1964, that he lost to a “friend” (bully 😡) Ever since, he has been hoping to find one for his collection. As you can see from the attached photo, his collection is nearly complete. After searching and contacting several different stores, and being turned away, either by shops that weren’t interested or did not have the penny themselves, I was referred by a very kind shop owner in Newington to Tom in Southbury. I shared this story with Tom, and he immediately was so enthusiastic to help! He found the best 1914–D penny that he had in his inventory. I unfortunately, did not find Tom until right before Christmas, so with a sense of urgency, he was able to mail it out to me right away. Not only that, but we came up with a super fun “decoy” 1914. When my Dad opened it, he was very humble to receive such a special coin, however, it was not the one that he had been looking for all these years. Little did he know, the 1914-D was underneath it. Tom was behind this exciting delivery of such a special gift, and I have to say, for ANYONE who is looking for a special gift, or for anyone who is interested in learning more about coins, Tom is your guy! What a pleasant experience it has been working with Tom. Tom has clearly put in the time and effort necessary to excel in a business like his. Within minutes I felt comfortable that I was in the right place to value and sell my coins (domestic and international), jewelry and flatware. His knowledge base is incredible, especially for someone his age. You can tell that he loves what he does as he not only values your stuff, but he gives you historical background with clear explanations about why one piece is valued higher than another. We have a good friend who collects coins who was blown away by Tom's very fair pricing. There truly is no where else to go when you have something of value (coins, jewelry, watches, paper money....frankly, I'd run ANYTHING by him) and you need to learn its value. I’ve had the pleasure of doing business with WC&C of Southbury, CT, on a number of occasions; both on-site at his VERY impressive storefront location, as well as several times on eBay. Whether buying or selling their customer service and intention to see every client satisfied is at all times the priority. On more than one occasion I’ve been met by staff after posted closing hours, and even on posted days closed!
