Perhaps Velocity Urgent Care Southington does not even deserve One star but to connote their unprofessionalism, I decided to assign just One star. Place never to Step your foot at Velocity Urgent Care Southington CT. Clinicians here are very unprofessional and they lack diligence in medical documentation and care delivery. My experience will not only shock you but convince you.
Sometime last year my wife and my mother in-law visited my Primary care Physician who is one of the USCIS designated center for obtaining Form I-695 (Report of Medical Examination & Vaccination Record), but he was at the verge of traveling for 3 weeks and due to the urgency of my mother in-law’s return to Africa, he referred us to another designated USCIS Medical Center (Velocity Urgent Care) in Southington.
On July 19th, 2017, my wife and my mother in-law arrived at the Velocity Urgent Care in Southington. A charge of $640 was made for all the Medical tests and vaccinations. In 3 to 5 days the results were ready and a sealed copy of the report was handed to them.
The Medical Report (Form I-695) along side other relevant forms were filed with immigration Office immediately. We waited for the feedback of the Green card to be mailed to her. During the long wait, my mother in-law lost her mother in Africa, but she couldn’t travel; She also lost her job due to the long wait. Above all, we couldn’t afford the financial cost of her traveling due to fear of unknown and eventualities that might occur.
On February 6th 2017, to our greatest surprise and dismay, we received a mail from USCIS, which indicated that Velocity Urgent Care, CT Southington did not deliver the service they charged $640 for. This was huge negligence and unprofessionalism. We drove to their Office immediately, demanding for our full refund. Instead they refused and called the Police on us claiming we cannot have a refund.
We decided to head back to our Primary Care Doctor to carry out the entire process again. The reason we decided not to have Urgent Care correct this error is because we lost confidence in their ability to fix it the second time, being that it is an important document and such errors shouldn’t have occurred in the first place. We officially wrote to Velocity Urgent Care requesting for the full refund. In response to the mail, one of the Doctors at Velocity Urgent Care, CT Southington called and threatened me on the phone and made some false claims simply because they do not want to refund our money.
Presently, this is a case that I will seek the a legal stands to address such practice and poor...
Read moreI was seen within an hour, because luckily, there was only one person ahead of me when I arrived. I was disappointed that Velocity failed to trade patient records, so my complicated history had to be modified, but I think most of the important/relevant history was covered. I did request a nebulizer treatment, but the PA said with the advent of covid, "they avoid giving the treatments", unless they're "really bad off". (If I was any worse, I'd have driven myself to the hospital one mile down the road.) Avoiding a treatment that can quickly help restore breathing function makes no sense, since all components are available in disposable form. The PA said I "seemed fine", prescribed steroids and an antibiotic, which he had to change, because he based his decision on an assumption I might be allergic to the preferred more broad spectrum option - even after I told him I'd taken it successfully in the past. A word of advice - always ASK the patient directly before making an assumption. With the severity of my symptom presentation, an expedited order would have been the wiser choice, but that didn't happen. I wound up waiting in the CVS for nearly an HOUR before one of the pharmacy students Alen, WHILE ON HIS LUNCH, noticing my breathing distress offered to get me the medication while they were closed for lunch. How the PA could/would ethically send me out of their clinic without a nebulizer treatment saying, I "seem fine" is beyond me. At least he thought my symptoms combined with my accurate reporting of successful treatment protocols resulted in my being prescribed the necessary steroid and antibiotic. They really need to step up their game. I have 3 stars because they at least prescribed MOST of the needed medications. Maybe, I'm being too generous... but at least the PA seemed pleasant enough, just not fully committed to the patient's needs vs following some ridiculous protocol or in place by AFC. *I think it important to note that the majority of positive reviews were from patients who visited this location when it was Velocity Urgent Care, so the data gathered is highly inaccurate and skewed to make AFC look more favorable. Read moreExtremely disorganized and unprofessional.
I called secretary for my results on Monday about a culture that was taken Friday. She stated my previous results that were taken at urgent care not the results that were sent out to lab.I asked her to clarify the date and time she stated there was only documentation that 1 swab had been taken. I explained all that was done on Friday she told me to wait she will connect me to a medical assistant, phone was disconnected.
When I called back, she answered said the PA was busy and would return my call. I recieved a call from PA about 30 minutes later stating labs don't come back for 7 to 10 days.
Received a call Tuesday morning a little after 9 am stating my results. About 6pm I received another call from same secretary I spoke to Monday. She asked for me and asked me to verify my date of birth and gave me my results. I asked bluntly-- isn't there a note that states I was contacted earlier this morning about my results? She stated No, there wasn't.
I understand the health care field is very trying with taking care of others and following procedures. However, it is critical that documentation is kept of what service was given, who provided, the results, date and time.
If it isn't documented, it did not happen. Healthcare data bases are usually time stamped as well, things that happen in the morning shouldn't be entered in the evening or the next day.
This location needs to be evaluated for poor documentation, it is...
