I was recommended to come to Spring Hill Formal for my Senior Prom dress by a friend who went there for hers. My helper, Addi was so kind, fun, honest and very very helpful! Overall it was a 40 minute endeavor, and I’m very lucky that this was the first place I tried and I ended up finding the one!
My concern with dress shopping was that I would not be able to find a dress that fit me, with the strange body proportions I have. I’m 5,0 with an skinnier, hourglass shaped sillhouette, larger bust, and small waist/flat butt. But at Spring Hill Formal, the first thing they do is take your measurements and lead you to the section of the store with dresses in your size.
They have a large array of styles and colors with no limit to what you can try on. This is where my helper Addi was so helpful as she gave honest feedback on the dresses i tried on and was genuinely interested in finding the best dress for me. She helped me zip and button dresses, she would explain the alterations I may want to get with each dress if I were to buy it. She would hold the dress to better fit my body to show the illusion of what the dress would look like after alterations if necessary, and she gave me honest feedback as to which dressed and features best flattered my features. With her help, I ended up picking this gorgeous lavender dress. I will end up needing it to be a little shorter, and I will need to remove a few layers to reduce how far the skirt comes out. They had dresses mostly withing the 300-500 range, with the dress I chose that is featured in the photo attached was at the top of my budget at 580, 650 after tax. It was the most expensive dress I tried on but I loved it just too much to not get it, so my mom and I decided to split the cost.
Before you go yourself, be aware of a few things. 1. If you try on a dress and you want to think on it, they are unable to put dresses on hold and as soon as you leave the dress will be put back on the rack for others to try on or purchase. 2. They have a no refund policy, but if you don’t want it after you purchase you can always sell it secondhand like new. 3. They do not do alterations and if you need any you will have to seek it out yourself. 4. They ask for the name of your school, but they do not prevent anyone from your school from buying the same dress that you buy, however in my case, the dress I bought was the only one of its color and size that they had so It’s unlikely that anyone will be at your prom with the same dress style and color as you. 5. If you buy a dress from spring hill formal, your date can get a 40% discount on tux/suit rentals if they bring the tag to your dress when they visit. I will attach some photos above of a few vests and jackets that I liked that matched my dress that I took to show my boyfriend. They have a large array of colors and options for a prom suit, cufflinks included, if you want your date to wear a suit that matches your dress. 6. They do sell shoes and show jewelry at this location.
Overall I am so happy with the result, and I totally recommend! 5/5...
Read moreI rarely give poor reviews but the experience here was exceptionally bad. My daughter was measured ( inaccurately) and we were pointed to her size with no further instructions from the young staff person. We picked a few dresses to try ( which ended up all too big) and I took my daughter into the dressing room. A frantic and rude woman then demanded to know who was in the dressing room and who was helping us. Taken aback, I said I am her mother. I was told I was not allowed to touch the dresses only a staff person could assist with changing and we needed to wait because they were all busy. I said, well if that's the case that should have been explained to me instead of your staff person showing us our size and disappearing. My daughter was re-measured and she selected some new dresses in the correct size and another young staff person who seemed like she hated her job and had somewhere else she would rather be, began helping us.
I made some comments to my daughter directly that I didn't think the quality of the dresses they offered justified the prices they were asking because none of the tops had any boning in them and they were not fitting snug, straight and smooth through the waist and chest like they should. They had no structure and wrinkled and folded vertically even though they were the correct size. The sales person proceeded to have an argument with me that the dresses were designer and that's how they were supposed to be and that they just needed to be taken in and she grabbed at the waist to pull it tighter but it was obvious no amount of taking in horizontally would fix a vertical lack of support.
After much back and forth with someone who was under the age of 18 and rude who obviously knew nothing about high end dress construction and who's opinion was never asked for, we left and went to the formal shop in Columbia. Night and Day difference. The staff there was friendly, polite and excited to help. The dresses were much better quality, and more diverse in styles and colors. They actually had boning and lining and proper structure, and the prices were lower on much better items. Skip Spring Hill all together and just go to Columbia...
Read moreI normally do not post a review but since the manager or owner decided to call me out in a recent response I decided the situation needed to be clarified. My daughter had been trying on dresses all day Sherri Hill, Javoni and knew exactly the size she needed. I’m not sure why Madi would not clip and zip the dresses my daughter picked out to try on all the way. This made it look like the dresses were too small. My daughter was almost in tears. Her friend decided to step in and zip one dress. This caused the stylist to go get the manager who proceeded to tell me that was not allowed. I told her that was fine but the stylist needed to do her job. The manager then decided to hang around like we were some sort of criminal watching us. We did not purchase anything, instead finished trying on, thanked our stylist for the help and left. Now we did not get any response or a good bye, have a nice evening. My daughter’s friend decided to review Spring Hill formals and instead of being considerate, the owner called me out. I’m not sure how someone conducts business like this but I hope others read the reviews before spending their hard earned money at your establishment. Plenty of other places to buy a high quality dress without being...
