General Greene Shopping Center — Attraction in Springfield

Be careful in this place. Some of the food is past the expiration date. I went to buy some frozen shrimp but it was expired so I brought it to the fish manager who apologized & walked into the back room. I thought he was throwing it out but instead he changed the label to a different expiration date & I caught him. He told me it was "Ok".... Hmmm, that got me thinking, so I put everything I was buying back in the freezer & went home with only vegetables. I thought all was good until I washed the purple long eggplants. I noticed my fingers turning purple & realized it had been dipped in dye. It was white Chinese eggplant dyed purple. The health department should inspect this place thoroughly. If it sells cheap, it is cheap or expired. I read online that some of the rice being sold was actually a form of rubber. You can see it on YouTube & check it by boiling it & then see if it bounces. The Gold Valley supermarket is located inside the General Green shopping mall. The supermarket caters to Asian food shoppers. They have a large selection of fresh produce, fruits, seafood and meat. Note that we are talking about fresh fish with heads and tails and not fillet, but they do have fish fillets. My point is that the products are what Asian shoppers are accustomed to buying. They have recently increased their prepared Asian dishes. Price point wise, it might be a few cents more than the same groceries that would be purchased in NYC Chinatown. This supermarket is so convenient, better than dealing with the traffic at Route 10 for Hong Kong supermarket. The supermarket was closed last month. It has since reopened...
