Large, grocery store size Asian market that has just about everything you could ever imagine and more.

The cashier advised knowing what you need before coming in or you could end up browsing for a very long time

Store is very large - did I mention that? Store is not new and feels a bit trafficked but is well stocked and organized. I thought produce was terrific, everything looked very nice and a lot of stuff you probably can't get at other stores. For example - large fresh baboo shoots and seaweed you can scoop out from a bowl of...I'm assuming salty water? I also noted (trigger warning) they had full head of pig - the whole thing with nose, ears etc. this may not be appealing to many people but this just suggests very fresh meat, possibly butchery etc. Large selection of fresh fish, large selection of teas, hot sauce, rice and everything imaginable.

There are also housewares with a very nice selection of woks and cooking tools.

We did grab some dim some and a couple other more fresh looking take out food available in the middle of the store (because I got so hungry browsing the place for like and hour). They kindly heated it up in the micro and gave us some soy sauce and forks. Staff said that after COVID they no longer prepare food fresh on a daily basis but rather every day fresh dim sum and other prepared foods were brought in from Chinatown NY.

This makes sense and the store definitely has that city feel and based on how authentic everything is it's clear there is a close connection (maybe) with another establishment in NYC

They keep the store quite cold so make sure you are prepared, at least...

Extremely rude staff and terrible service. One of the staff overcharged one of my products and later when I went to check the receipt, I noticed that it had been overcharged. I went to talk to her politely, she told me to move away and wait in another line where a more elder man was checking out customers. I patiently waited for a few minutes for the customer in front of me to checkout to wait for my turn. He told me move aside as there were other customers trying to check out and I was cutting the line. I told him that that is not cutting the line, I just need a partial refund. I was surprised to see that this supermarket does not even have a refund desk unlike other stores such as Target. Then the woman that was checking me out earlier started interrupting in a very angry voice. She called me stupid although I was not even talking about her, I was talking about the product. I asked to speak to the manager, but somehow the old man called himself the "boss" in a very stubborn tone. I politely told him that you are not the boss because that was very disrespectful talking to their customers like that. I asked for my receipt so I could call the phone number with the products I bought, but for whatever reason, they threw my receipt away and gave me other customers receipts that were severly torn.

The thing is, I was overcharged, I basically got harassed by the staff, and their service was horrible. Hope they actually refund me because as of right now, nothing has been done to this refund and that this never...

Extremely Disappointed. If I could give ZERO-STARS I would.

I rushed to Gold Valley this morning to purchase two living fish with fish cleaning service for my Easter lunch gathering. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing, and I feel compelled to share it with others.

After cooking the fish, I discovered that they had a strong bitter taste. Upon further investigation, I realized that the gall bladder of the fish had been punctured during the cleaning process. This not only ruined the taste of the fish but also made them inedible.

As a regular customer, I had never encountered any issues before, so I didn't ask for a receipt after checkout. However, when I called the grocery store to seek assistance, the person who answered the phone was incredibly rude and refused to help me. He kept asking if I had the receipt even I already answered no for several times. I offered the barcode and my credit card info to let him find my order from their system but he started YELLING and CURSING me for the inconvenience for him. I really can't believe this!! I had no choice but hanging up to save myself.

I don't know if I would ever come back to Gold Valley even though it is the only Asian grocery store...

They have a lot of different things: snacks, fruit, vegetables, exotic meat (rabbit, koel, duck, etc.), Unthinkable body part of pig and cow 🤢, and the largest selection of fresh fish. They had full fish (even live ones) laying down at the front and the fish butcher will cut it for the buyer however (they have a pictogram of five kinds of cut) desired! We got a milk fish and a slice of buffalo fish (1 lb a slice just to give an idea how big it was 😲). In the snacks department they had super tasty dorayaki (from the Doraemon show), and very tasty Aji cake. They are so tasty, I can't stop eating them 😋🤤 If someone wants to live healthy, looking for a sharp brain (memory) and thinking of eating more fish, this is the store to be in NJ! 🙂 Plus they have fish for a very reasonable price! 🤑

Pros: Extensive variety. Cons: Questionable quality—this is my second time encountering an issue. The first time, I provided feedback but did not receive a refund or follow-up. Despite that, I returned because I found products I liked in this store. This time, I bought mochi ice cream, and the mochi skin was clumped together when I opened it, with a strange blue pigment.
