St. John Environmental saved my family from buying a mold-infested home that would have harmed our health and depleted our savings. Can your family afford to spend tens of thousands on a properly performed mold remediation? Mine cannot. Maybe you have thousands to spend on medical care for health problems? We don’t. The house we planned to buy looked beautiful and appeared to be very well maintained. We had a full home inspection that looked good—minor issues the sellers could easily correct.
We contacted St. John Environmental for a mold test because we know homeowners who were forced to spend a small fortune removing moldy drywall. We had limited time to get our inspections done, but Ian St. John fit us into his schedule and took air samples inside and outside the home. Ian sent us our lab results the next day. He clearly explained what the results meant over the phone and later answered all of our emailed questions carefully.
Although the cost for the test initially seemed high, I am so glad we spent the money to get this test done. We were disappointed when we backed out of the purchase of what we thought was our dream home but are now so relieved we did not make a costly mistake.
You often cannot see or smell dangerous levels of mold. The next time we try to purchase a home, we plan to contact St John Environmental to get our mold...
Read moreI submitted a request for a quote on a Sunday. We have 9x9 tiles, with asbestos, in our basement that are cracking with some glue exposed and I wasn't sure if Ian's company had any encapsulation or removal services. I'm not going to lie, I was freaking out a bit about it. My partner and I had read a few scary threads on Houzz and other popular home sites about the dangers of asbestos and friable asbestos that made us really worry we were in bad shape. Ian messaged me back right away, and offered to talk even though it was a Sunday. I told him our situation. He said he didn't need to come out, he told us more info (actual facts vs a Houzz thread) about asbestos tile (thankfully, ours is not friable) and talked through various DIY ways to cover it up, with his recommendations on the easiest way to do it. He was a saint and so kind for talking to me, free of charge. He really knows his business and...
Read moreI haven't hired St. John yet, but if I do need the inspection done, I will hire them without a doubt. I called and left a voicemail about concerns I have about lead-based paint being in our rental home, because I have a pregnant wife and a young daughter. Ian called me back quickly and was really helpful even without me hiring him. He looked over some lead inspection documents for me and helped me make sense of what the results were, and he was willing to take time out of his schedule to offer his advice and knowledge for someone who hadn't hired him for a job at this point. He was knowledgeable and friendly, explaining things to me so that I could understand what was going on.
My family is going to get blood tests to check for lead in our systems, and if we do proceed with the lead inspection, St. John is who I would hire, hands down....
