You know that diamond in the rough place you're afraid to review because it'll become waaaay too popular? Sigh. Here is the review I did and did not want to leave! Kabul Market & Bakery is a small, quaint international dry goods grocer/takeaway with some truly unique finds on their shelves. Browse away while they hand-prepare you some delicate, flavorful mantu (meat dumplings with red lentil sauce, creamy sauce, & shaved leek topping), an Afghan sandwich (authentic mash-up sammie consisting of hand-cut fries, frankfurter, and authentic condiments all rolled up in authentic bread), or a kabob sandwich (two generous meat "links" alongside authentic condiments all rolled up in authentic bread). Takeaway counter service = great prices! They have more dishes I haven't tried yet, but I'm sure they're all equally delicious. This last time they were out of the cashew, dried papaya, and rose essence shortbread cookies I've become addicted to, so I opted for...cumin cookies! Unusual flavor, crunchy cumin seeds, great aftertaste of cumin once you finish. A risk-free gastronomical wonderland! Side note: the owner is gracious, kind, warm & welcoming. I go here all the time and the owners are some of the nicest people in my community. They’re really accommodating and hospitable and their prices are more than reasonable. Me and my girlfriend get their kebab sandwich and we love it. Very grateful for the Kabul Market & Bakery for everything they do for me...
