I've come to this market 3 times now and really enjoy it. The reason for 4 stars is that some of the vendors could use a little more training on customer service. Especially the two booths that specialize in Strawberries and Raspberries. If I'm going to support local farmers and pay dollars more at this market for the same exact local produce I can buy way cheaper at Safeway, then the prices could be a little less expensive. I also really wanted to try some of the wonderful variations of berries, but I've requested on two occasions now for a berry to taste so I can determine if it's going to be sweet enough for my taste buds and the response has been we don't allow that. Ok, fine, you just lost a sale from me because if you ask nicely, Safeway will let you taste the local produce within reason.
I'm also a lover and connoisseur of all things Kettle Corn. The gentleman that makes it here works hard, but needs to add more sweetness to his product. The caramel corn has a slight burnt flavor but not in a good way. The cheddar flavor is non-existent. It tasted like regular popcorn. I feel either he might not be aware that his product needs more flavor or that he is just trying to cut costs on his overhead bottom line compared to the 100's of kettle corn locations I've attended.
In the future when I visit I look forward to the new vendors that show up on occasion, and especially for the Scones. The Scone Lady vendor is where it's at. Perfectly cooked Scones packed with love and flavor. Just...
Read moreI absolutely love visiting this small but very mighty farmers market! Packed with so many farms that have great products like beautiful flowers, the absolute best berries, fresh from the farm veggies, micrograms, lavender, and so much more. The craft vendors have some of the most unique items created with love and make great gift ideas for last minute gifting or planning ahead. Some even do custom work. Also look forward to getting my fresh roasted coffee, scones, mead and sometimes mini donuts! I love knowing where my food comes from and being able to ask any questions related to ingredients/growing practices direct from the owner/knowledgeable employee and not having to guess where my food comes from. My favorite veggie farm is Dirt on your boots. I love the bulk purchase ability and it's just great produce. My favorite berries are Our family farm. Some of the sweetest and best tasting berries. Snocountry farm has the most beautiful flowers picked fresh and designed so beautifully. Chulel does some amazing wrapping of stones in the most unique way. You are what you eat seafood has the freshest and tastiest fish (halibut, sablefish and more) I have ever had! Essentially if you haven't been you should go check it out and enjoy the...
Read moreFirst time going to the Stanwood Farmers Market, I was so excited! Venders were nice, but, forget bringing your large dog there ..not very dog friendly staff that target large scary looking dogs. Several of the dogs were acting up with no actual contact. Staff did nothing about them. As soon as mine had a grumble at another dog, and put under control immediately, wow, look out they were all over her! Felt very unwelcome and breed profiled. I will not be back, and will spend my local...
