My daughter rented this facility as an event venue back in September for a party that was to occur towards the end of December. Sent out her invitations. Then started hiring caterers etc. BIG problem. Rented for 6p-12am her invitation said 7pm 11pm. Called to rent additional time. Company rep. said NO!!!you already signed your contract. So…..now caterer, decorator, dj, bartender all had only 1 hour to set up.BUT…days later after the event, I was told by a couple o guest , that during her event setup there was a woman walking around saying. You can’t put a table here, you did not pay to use that, and then at the end was saying to people helping us”you need to be out by 12 or you will be charged. “ My daughter said her friend came to her and said “BE CAREFUL THERE IS A MEAN LADY WALKING AROUND” with 1 hour setup time, some of the guest had to help the people we PAID to set up. EMBARRASSING. And guy had no way to warm food that sat out in 30 degree weather since 5pm after we made sure facility had full kitchen. Could not use televisions to display daughter’s graduation. Lady told someone we did not pay for that. My biggest problem we attempted to pay for extra time for the hired help and was told no Sooooo why ???is THERE A PERSON WALKING AROUND DURING AT EVENT STATING YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR EXTRA TIME WHEN WE OFFERED TO PAY FOR EXTRA TIME. Tables should have been placed in appropriate location prior so my daughter should not have had to go in and move tables anyway. The lady only wanted the table placed were there was not outlet to even provide hot cocoa for people it was 30 degrees. In addition someone felt ill because she drove 7 hours did not eat and tasted food and said she could not eat it because it was cold. Lady almost passed out in parking lot , so someone called 911. Guest state lighting was poor outside. Also found out from another guest that the decorator lady is actively being treated for cancer but wanted make the place beautiful but felt overwhelmingly stressed with a 1 hour setup time, She previously pleaded with my daughter to get even an extra hour. Now I know why. Personally did not encounter the staff woman but ultimately it boils down to the fact that she embarrassed my daughter with her unprofessional behavior. And if you can break the contract to charge me at the end you could’ve broken it to charge me at the beginning. Building was beautiful but one person helping the caterer stated they did feel...
Read moreThis review is for parents that are needing help on where to send their kids for Summer Camp. We make an effort to send our daughter here & Elachee Camp for camp due to it's wonderful program. Having previously worked with teachers on creating inclusive & diverse lesson plans filled with STEM activities; I chose GEHC for it's commitment to it's curriculum. This facility, along with Elachee, are my top two Summer Camps because of how amazing their programs are. GEHC is also one of the few summer camps in Gwinnett County that emphases on nature & being outdoors which offers tons of opportunities for students to learn & grow through these type of experiences. Currently they are building an inclusive treehouse that will help individuals in wheelchairs have access & it simply looks amazing! I cannot wait for it to open. Our daughter loves interacting with all of the rescued animals & learning about them in addition to attending the classrooms which are filled with tons of hands on learning through activities & experiments. They also have open to the public their Water Works room which shows the cycle of water through the ecosystem. We have attended here for two years now & our daughter simply loves it. Registration is done through Gwinnett Civic with Summer Camp Themes available for the parents to pick on what they want their child to attend. This year we tried Lego camp & Invention camp which had her bringing home so many cool things! Based on this, it shows that the material taught to the kids seems to be age appropriate & fun. Last year we did Mermaids, Bugs, & a few others that she said were amazing. We love that our daughter is always learning & enjoying being outside trying different activities such as Tree top quest (which I believe she can zip line too) & their water days (Fridays only usually). I highly recommend this program along with Elachee due to their outstanding curriculum for the summer & outdoor fun. Lastly, GEHC is partnered with Gwinnett & offers free meals for students should they need it. I cannot stress how important & amazing this is for children who potentially go hungry & love that they are able to provide food for those children. GEHC also offers occasionally STEM Saturday programs & it's a fun family event. Support this...
Read moreI had my engagement party here We selected the Ivy room I thought the location was perfect, we viewed it a few times before selecting we chose this location not realizing the nickle and diming we were gonna get charged you're better off going to a real event center better yet a hotel conference room would have been better, thank goodness they changed the policy right before my party because we were going to have to pay for chairs and tables. They require a 2 million dollar insurance policy(which wasn't easy my allstate guy had to call gwinnett county to get it approved because Grey was in his feelings and not approving it) which will run you about $300 for your event if you hire vendors like a Dj/ Bartender, caterer. You have to pay for $250 or more for a police officer if you serve alcohol and be prepared for the workers to be lurking in and out of your event the entire time not sure why they were in there with us, oh yea you have to literally CLEAN EVERYTHING before you leave AND TAKE OUT YOUR OWN TRASH and don't go a minute overtime you will get charged! Last but not least my event ended at 10pm it's PITCH BLACK, they have NO LIGHTS out side we were literally loading our vehicles with the lights from the cars and our flashlights on our cell phones coming from the Ivy Room no lighting at all! Overall I wouldn't have another event here and also wouldn't recommend it to anyone, it's really beautiful but when the sun starts setting ALL your guests will be blinded till it goes down as it's glass windows. I posted so pics to...
