Herring's Outdoor Sports — Attraction in Surf City

I try to love this place, but it's hard... they really don't make you feel welcome.. Frankly, I felt like I was bothering them and disturbing their "perfect" display... like a Saks in the 2000's kind of vibe... but the aesthetic, more of a flea market vibe... so not really adding up...

I guess they thought maybe I'd steal from them, based on how closely they watched me browse, and the hundreds of "We're watching you" signs around the store.

I'm thinking I will just save them the trouble in the future and take my shopping elsewhere.

The lights in the back flicker badly, which really creates a weird vibe right away, and shopping around is hard, with everything crammed in and mixed up.

Generally, they carry good brands, but sizing/colors can really be all over the place, and everything has a picked-over feel... I kind of sensed most of it is...

Enjoyed the collection of Pura Vida jewelry here, with bracelets, earrings, rings, and more. I ended up buying one pair of Pura Vida earrings here and really love them! You do have to ask the staff to unlock this collection. I also purchased a beautiful, handmade stone/gem bracelet made in the USA and a car sticker. They mostly sale shoes and clothes. You can find high end brands like Birkenstock and Brooks. A pair of sandals I purchased here were a bit expensive for the material, but they wear very well and seem to be made well, just a bit slick on the bottom. They have a large Pentagonia selection also. Just know since you’re on the island it is more expensive to buy things here in store than online or through the manufacturer. Love this shop. Has a great selection of brands I want to shop for instead of the same cheap quality you can find at any other beach shop. Have been happy shoppers for years but today took the cake. Brought my teen in to pick a present for a school friend and the cashier was so kind to her! Talked to her like she was a whole person instead of a kid and really made her day. When she found out the purchase was a gift she offered to put in a gift bag with tissue and a bow. She made it really beautiful, my girl was so excited to give it to her friend! Over the top great experience at a place that was already awesome....
