Southern Emporium — Local services in Surf City

The store is a little pricey, but you might expect that at a tourist type store. We were hoping to get a little decor to do some projects with our kids; we live very close to Surf City. Unfortunately, the sales clerk made this experience difficult. I understand there are many, many breakable things in the store. She followed my son around the store (I was always near him, but I gave him some distance to look at things). Whenever my son would reach out for something she would say, “Don’t touch that!”

While little boys are known for being rough, my children were not respected here. I gave them the ability to shop. It was not the salesclerks place to follow my child or not allow him to touch anything. If any of us had broken anything, we would have paid for the damages.
