Wine Tasting Review – Le Mesa Vineyards, Sutter Creek, CA
I sampled a diverse lineup: Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Canelli, Grenache Noir, Syrah, and Barbera. The Sauvignon Blanc was crisp and refreshing with bright citrus and a clean finish – a perfect way to start. The Muscat Canelli offered a beautiful floral aroma with a touch of sweetness that was well balanced rather than overpowering.
Moving into the reds, the Grenache Noir showed vibrant red fruit and a silky texture, while the Syrah stood out with its depth, dark berry notes, and a hint of spice. The Barbera was rich, smooth, and food-friendly with just the right amount of acidity. The Primitivo ended up being my favorite and was another standout: bold rich fruit but still really smooth on the finish.
What really elevated the tasting was Tamara’s guidance – she was attentive without being rushed, answered questions thoughtfully, and made the experience personal and memorable.

Read moreHave you ever tried to take a kitten with you while wine tasting? Well, my wife and I attempted this over Valentine's Day weekend, and it did not go well. Our little whiskers could not calm down and was meowing non-stop. So unfortunately, our weekend wine tasting in Amador County was shortened to one winery. Thankfully that one winery was Le Mulet! We had a tasting and everything we tried was delicious! We left with two bottles, but were tempted to buy more! But it wasn't just the wine that made this trip worthwhile, it was the customer service and hospitality. Tamara was kind and patient the entire time! She insisted that we were welcome with a fussy kitten and sat us in the back where it was quiet. Next time we are in town, Le Mulet will be our first stop!...
