Let me preface with this: I have never left a one-star review before.
For context, I had booked a hair-coloring appointment. They asked two questions: length of hair and previous hair-coloring. I said that I had shoulder-length hair and previous at-home root coloring.
My daughter and I had left for the appointment on time; leaving 20 minutes to reach a salon that was 2 miles away.
However, due to peak traffic and the hard-to-find location— the salon’s small sign is inconveniently hidden behind a tree—we told the receptionist that we’d be late.
She told us to head home because the service couldn’t be provided after 15 minutes…so we did.
Then a few minutes later, she asked us to come in and have Mikey (stylist) do whatever he could with the time left in exchange for waiving the late fee.
The stylist came to the counter and looked visibly unhappy.
For two minutes, he inspected my hair. He told us that due to box color trickling down from my roots, my hair would take on an ugly brass tint for months. Of course, we didn’t want the treatment after that.
We weren’t happy that our time had been wasted over a problem that could have easily been fixed with a 5-minute consultation (which is standard for many reputable salons) or some forethought, but nevertheless, we waited at the counter.
We were given a fee of $93 or the full late/cancellation fee for 3 hours of coloring.
We had done our part: came into the salon with the intent of paying full price for a time-limited service.
Their thoughtlessness and lack of sharing information cost them the time left and we refused to pay for a mistake that wasn’t our own.
Later, we received notice that they charged our card regardless of our plea for a price discussion.
In summary, they provided no prior consultation, booked 3 hrs without asking us, told us the service can’t be done, and then charged us $93.
Now I’m sure they’ll respond to this review with denial or manipulative framing tactics.
And honestly, you’re free to believe who you’d like.
I’m just writing to warn any potential customers: Tribeca cares more about taking your money than ensuring a positive...
Read moreUpdate: After many years of Tribeca being the only salon I trust, I just can't recommend it any longer. I came in in 2023 to get my hair dyed dark green, but left with bright blue after 6 hours and $700 (plus tip). The stylist did not listen to what I wanted and did not answer my questions when I had them. I went back to get it touched up and they gave me a different stylist, who proceeded to dye my roots an entirely different shade of blue. I simply shaved my hair off. Fast forward to 2025, I come in for a cut (specifically a wolf cut)and asked that my hair not be washed because I intended to go home and bleach it myself in preparation for dye. She didn't even wet my hair, and I happily expressed to her that she absolutely could use water, just not shampoo. As she was cutting (read: butchering) my hair, she kept telling me that it won't look like the reference I brought in, and that it'll take some time to grow into it, which I totally understand, but this was egregious. I went to bed and woke up with patches of hair that were cut at different lengths with zero texture and my bangs had long tufts that weren't cut at all. It was so bad, I did everything on my power to style it. I called a stylist in Brandon on Easter Sunday, who did a great job at giving me exactly what I asked for to begin with, without washing my hair as it was very freshly dyed. It used to be an inviting place that seemed to be for all types of folks, but the people working the desk are rude as hell, too. If you're not cool with shaving it all off when they inevitably mess it up because they didn't listen to you, I absolutely would not recommend.
Original review: I came in after I went to a salon that absolutely destroyed my hair. It looked so bad when I arrived, we weren't sure anything could be done. An hour later, I come out feeling the best I've felt in years, with a haircut I never thought I'd have. I appreciate the sympathy given, and the stylist walked me through the options so I wouldn't look like a crooked mop. I love Tribeca, and won't go anywhere else. Everyone always has a great attitude and the atmosphere really...
Read moreLess than a month ago I booked myself for an October appt the morning of my wedding for an updo & makeup, my mom for blowout, my friend for blowout, and my step-mom for blowout. I also booked myself for this past Saturday for a highlight to see if I liked the place.
Today I received very confusing calls from the front desk, first asking for my mom's contact info because they thought she was paying (she's not and never indicated that she was. I even explicitly said to my stylist Saturday that I am paying for everything.) Less than an hour later I received a call from a receptionist who had no idea what she was doing who kept repeating, "my manager said to call you and let you know we are no longer doing weddings." It was an insult that the manager didn't bother to call me herself, but she did call me back after I requested it.
The manager did call me about an hour later, explained what happened with their staff being confused and owned up to the salon's errors, but I have absolutely no interest in returning there for any services. Regarding my highlights on Saturday, the price was exuberantly higher than I had anticipated going in based off of their tier system, but I paid at the end anyway because what else are you supposed to do? I wasn't going to just walk out. I would not have booked the appointment this past Saturday had they notified me prior (and I am told the "no weddings" decision was made March 9, so they had time to tell me.) I was meant to return this evening for toner as I was not happy with the highlights themselves and for a cut since they ran out of time on Saturday (time they should have budgeted for,) but instead I have found somewhere else to go to fix the highlights, where I will have to pay again. I will not be returning to Tribeca Salon and I highly discourage anyone from going there. They do not have it together.
The manager said she will call me back today, so I'm waiting for that call, and I am expecting a refund or I will have to go through the hassle of filing a chargeback with my...
