I am Portuguese and so I am very used to the cooking all my life and I have 40 years of experience cooking it. Yesterday was our first time visit. The overwhelming critique I have is that the food is overcooked and thus gets hard and chewy. This only pertains to meats and fish. I also did not see any signs indicating there were bones in the fish, though I could see them. You had cooked Taro root (Inhame - in Portuguese) which we’re fine but your sign on them said, “Yams” so I double checked with the girl who helped me and asked her to confirm that they were indeed Yams and she answered yes. I bought them anyway as I knew they were not. The Smelts we had could use salt, as they were overcooked, and bland and hard to get down. There were beef chunks perhaps toresmos? That could not be eaten.
We tried a large variety of food this was not a tiny order by any means but I’ll end this here.
If it helps, I don’t think the concept of a Portuguese Buffet works as the food is kept heating over and over and those pieces of meats just get tougher since they’re overcooked to begin with.
But I wish you the best and I’m sure you’ll do well with the largely Portuguese population...
Read moreThe food is OK! I don’t get the rave! I’ve been to other Portuguese places before and the food is FLAVORFUL. But at Patricia‘s kitchen. This is my third time trying it and I’ll say it’s a not for me. I got the fish, fry haddock, also another fry fish. I forgot what it’s called but it had no season, when I got home, I had to add like a whole bunch of hot pepper, salt. My family did not enjoy it. I guess to each his own, but I don’t think I’ll be going back there. The food suggestions overall in Taunton area only Portuguese and pizza, few Brazilians, Haitian and one Jamaican restaurant. There’s little variety here for food. I travel to Providence, Boston surrounded areas to get food. I have to travel for GOOD FOOD I will. If I decided to get takeout. I wish Taunton will diversify their food selections. If I’m spending $30 or more, I wanna enjoy my food. I want my money’s worth. Like it’s prepared for diabetic and hypertensive...
Read moreMy mom and I stopped in while we were running errands. Upon walking in you just get a complete good vibe, the food smells delicious and the staff are super nice and attentive. They are all very helpful and make sure everyone has been taking care of. Now onto the food, I chose yellow rice with a tad of black beans on top, mixed veggies and linguica , my mom chose yellow rice, mixed veggies , linguica and favas. We are Portuguese and when I tell you this food is delicious it’s an understatement, it left us wanting more. And for both plates it was $13!!! I can’t wait to go back. I’m sorry I have no pictures to post as my meal did not last long...
