Taylorsville Library — Attraction in Taylorsville

I love this library. It's close to my house and easy to get to. It's clean and quiet and the building is still relatively new. The staff is always polite and always respond to my questions with easy to understand answers. If they don't have a book ready and waiting to be checked out it's very easy to reserve it online, and the library always sends an email letting you know when the book is ready to be picked up. I also like the email reminders that let you know it's time to return the book - and if no one else in the Salt Lake Valley has reserved that book (DVD, CD, whatever) you can extend your due date with a few mouse clicks. I also like the "Freegal" service that lets you download songs or videos for free. (Since the library pays to subscribe to the Freegal service I'm assuming that the artist(s) do receive money when you download their material.) So if you're one of those people that wants to get free music off the internet here's your chance; and the artist(s) still gets paid.

If people complain about the lack of materials or lack of available books (DVDs, etc.) they should remember that this is a BRANCH library, which means it is a smaller version of the main library, and space is limited, so they can only hold so many books in the building at once. If you need a certain book immediately you can go to the main library or you can pry open your wallet and purchase the book. The price to pay for having the library close to you is a lack of space. But like I said, it'[s easy to reserve books online if the library doesn't have the book in stock at the moment.

If I have one negative comment about the library it's the cars that park on the street right outside of the library. Often the cars block the view of oncoming traffic from the north which can make it difficult to safely exit the property. Theoretically cars are not supposed to park there anyway since it has been converted into a bike lane, but no one appears to be doing anything about it. (This may be a city issue more than a library issue though, so I don't know if I can hold the library...

I came here to return a few books and checkout a few as well when I went to check out I had been fined 70$ I ask one of the librarian. why and he was so rude instead of telling me claiming and respectfully he was rude and yelled at me and told me my books we're water damaged I was confused as to how that happened and when me and my friend went back to her car I discovered her car was leaking water and it got on the floor where my books were sitting on the passenger side in the front seat my friend gave me 70$ as an apology for forgetting to tell me about it I went back in and paid the guy explained what happened he was still being rude and told me to just get my books and leave if you go to this one I'd advise you not to ask the male librarian for help he, has no idea how to treat his customers, even if they made a mistake with their books you still should not talk to...

Great library. I've never been a huge fan of the architectural design. You park in the rear and then walk around to an entrance.

They have nice book drop off in front. And during peak COVID season it was easy to pick up books.

The space inside is entirely used. Very functionally. I absolutely love the system for holds and book transfers. I use my app on my phone and request books from all over the county and the books usually arrive in less than a week.

Checkout is a piece of cake. In fact, sometimes I wonder what the staff even do since it is so automated now. The only time we deal with staff is when my kids trash a book and we have to go apologize and...
