I recently visited Guisados Homestyle Mexican Cooking and had a wonderful dining experience.
Food: We tried the cochinita pibil, and it was excellent. The flavors were rich, and the pork was incredibly tender. It was a bit more solid than traditional pibil, but still, it was very, very good. They also had agua mineral, which was a nice touch and added to the authentic experience.
Drinks: The selection of Mexican drinks was impressive. It’s a great place to enjoy a variety of traditional beverages that complement the meals perfectly.
Service: The staff were super nice and friendly. We were served quickly, and they were very attentive throughout our meal. A little Spanish goes a long way here, making communication smoother.
Ambiance: The interior is simple with plenty of tables. It’s not upscale, but it’s comfortable and has a cozy, homestyle vibe that matches the food.
Overall, Guisados offers delicious food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend...
Read moreThe caldo de camaron was on special tonight. They were out of the caldo de res so hubby tried the camaron. It came with shrimps fully intact. We thought it was strange but tried it anyway. The flavor was nothing but shrimp, any other seasoning was completely lost. Do not ever order this unless you enjoy shrimp heads, shells, feces, and the like. There were also no tools to de-vain the shrimp or remove the shells. The soup came with a spoon and no other implements, not even napkins.
We also had no opportunity to order something different or ask for napkins because the server was nowhere in sight until she came out to lock the door for closing time. We paid the bill and left.
The reason I gave 2 stars is because the tacos were delicious. I tried a sampling of several kinds. I wish I could say we will go back for them but it will be hard to convince my husband to try this place again after...
Read moreI was going to leave a review, whether or not the food was good. Based on my experience with the cashier, this place gets five stars on its own. I was warmly greeted and warmly informed that they may not be able to serve me because they were closing. I told the lady no problem but she insisted she would check to make sure it was OK. She came back and insisted that I order so I did. I just got four chicken tacos and a side order of chips and salsa. Based on the flavor of my food, I will be back, so it was a bonus that they were beyond friendly and accommodating. Places like this are the best example of why we need these small mom and Pop ethnic food restaurants. Their enthusiasm for sharing their food and culture...
