I am almost 60 years old and I am a member of the club on university drive in Tempe. AZ through the silver sneakers program. I have been going there for over 2 years and have never had a problem until today. I was in the 30 minute express area where I always workout and there was a man there with a child that appeared to be about 8 years old. He was playing his music on a boom box so loud that I could not drown it out by turning my music up on my hearing aids. I went to the front desk and complained. The young lady Emily, who by the way is fantastic, works there and she went to him and I am not sure what she said but he seemed to be contesting it. I went back in to continue my workout and the man not only did not turn off his music but he proceeded to harass me about complaining. I told him I was going to complain again and he said go ahead. I also told him if necessary I will call the police. Oh and by the way there were 2 women on the elipiticals who were also bothered by the music but they didn’t complain, they just went somewhere else to workout. When I went To complain again, Oz, I am not sure if he is a manger but he came back and told me that the man was told to turn the music down, not off and not to say anything else to me. He also told me that I could wait up front until the man was done with his workout and then go back. I said I should not have to wait to finish my workout, I am being harassed and he is breaking the rules. I went back the last time and attempted my workout only to be harassed again by the patron. Oz came back and tried to get him to leave me alone, but I just left.
Th patron was breaking 3 rules, music without a headset, harassment, and having a child under 13 in the club. Oz should have told him to leave but he didn’t. He told me he was trying to be neutral. He should not be neutral he should enforce the rules. I have never even seen that other man in there before. If this is how I am going to be treated in this place, my husband and I both will move our memberships elsewhere. We also go to mountainside fitness with silver sneakers and I am a sure that I would never be treated there this way, nor have I ever.
If I ever do go back it will be a...
Read moreI recently walked into this Planet Fitness location and asked about switching my home club to this one, as I’d be in the area more often than my current home club. The staff member at the front desk directed me to transfer it directly through my Planet Fitness account. After trying this a few times without success, a new staff member (who later turned out to be the manager, Selma) came over to assist. She tried walking me through the app to see if there was a way to transfer my home club, but we still couldn’t find a solution.
Selma then advised me to call my home club in Gilbert to make the switch. I tried calling twice, but I couldn’t get an answer. I returned to Selma and asked for alternative solutions. She offered me two options: pay a $5 day fee to use this location or upgrade to a Black Card membership. I explained how inconvenient this process was and declined both options, as I just wanted to transfer my home club. When I asked if there were any other solutions, she said no.
Feeling frustrated with the lack of assistance, I told her I would cancel my membership. Her response was simply, “That’s fine, go ahead.” Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service and care from management. For a simple request like transferring my home club, the process was far more complicated than it should have been, and there was no effort made to find a solution that would retain my business.
I ended up canceling my membership, and I will no longer be using Planet Fitness moving forward. If they had made the process easier and more accommodating, I likely would have stayed a...
Read moreTried their free day pass. With that said, I was hoping the gym would be awesome!
Of course too good to be true. Their cable machines... if your changing the weight they fall straight down to the ground. So, when I was changing the weight it fell straight on my head. For both times people just stared? If I was someone who witnessed this I would ask if the person was ok, but nope nothing. I tried another cable machine they did the same thing, as they all did. Most fitness places cable machines when your changing from the rope, to the bar for lat pull downs etc, they don’t fall on you. This should not be a concern, but at this gym it is. If you want to injure yourself and have no staff help you out, please go here! They had no idea about it, so I showed them and they didn’t even say anything.
They could not even provide an ice pack even though they offered it? Who offers someone something and then just won’t speak of it again. There are plenty of good gyms in the area, please stay away from this one if you are looking to lift weights. If you want to get treated horrible by staff, who don’t care or not even apologize and possibly injured from their horrible weight equipment, join this gym! Also side note some machines the weight is not even labeled...The manager got back to me very late, weeks later from this, and did not address the issue of what happened. If something really was wrong it would be too late. Please get better staff and care about your customers safety. The fact that you guys don’t care and so laid back about it when people are hurt. Don’t...
