I've never had an unpleasant experience here. Been going to Sunshine off and on for about 5 years now, playing table top games and Magic. When I got into Magic, I came to Sunshine and purchased about 90% of cards for my deck here. I was a newbie, and I asked many questions and I was never made to feel as I was an outcast, I didn't belong, or I was wasting their time. I've had lengthy conversations with many of the staff, and they've always joked with me, listened to my thoughts and ideas on decks, and even taken the time to help me construct a deck with my goals in mind, offering suggestions that range from cards that cost pennies to the more expensive ones. They also did not prey on me when I was new to Magic and tell me to buy expensive cards, but actually the opposite, often giving me alternatives to the expensive cards which did similar stuff but for a much lower cost. All of the staff are great and the owner is very inconspicuous, you'll find him playing a game at times. In these communities there is often gate keeping and ostracisation, which I've experienced at another store that appears to no longer be in business, but here at Sunshine I've always felt welcomed and encouraged to try other games, not only by the staff, but also by other people playing. The other players here are friendly and welcoming though they can be shy, so please don't hesitate to ask someone to play a game with you. I also like that I can come in and play for hours without buying something, but I always feel as though I'm mooching so I spend some money on cards I need and some snacks.
They have a wide selection of drinks and snacks to hold you over during tournaments, with some healthy options as well. I am glad Sunshine opened up, it was started by a USF student, and I'm really proud of the store and how they've built a great environment for playing, learning, and just having fun. Growing up playing Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Heroclix I forged some of my best friendships and memories with my friends and family playing these games, and I'm glad this store is open and is giving a chance for other young people to forge great memories and strong friendships they will have for the rest...
Read moreIf you like being low balled and scalped I 100% recommend this shop. The manager or owner im not sure who he is to be honest.. was almost dysfunctional in terms of costumer service.
I went in jun.8th.2025 to trade to sp one piece cards and two koby alt arts. To get other cards I needed for my purple deck. The gentleman I encountered already looked like he wasnt in the best mood. (Which is understandable they were busy with a tournament or something) he asked me what I needed and I told him... he said ill go check and I stood there for an hour just to be helped by the lady.. she gave me a quote which I wasnt to happy about so I ended up not trading my sp cards for my purple add on. Instead I wanted to trade for some op05 packs and the cards I needed. The gentleman DID NOT MAKE ME AWARE! That the pack were almost 18 dollars a pack or I wouldn't of even entertained trading. He just assumed I was gonna trade. So I asked the gentleman how much were the packs each and was no longer interested.. he got upset at me.. like it was my fault that he bought high when the market was high... and cant make his money back because he assumed I was gonna trade.. when all I did was ask first... I just wish he would've said something first that outcome could've been alot different... but anyway he took my cards that was worth 22 dollars and credited me for the 3 dollars and I lost out... I tried to say something but I was afraid it would escalate into a altercation I dont want over pieces of card board with pictures on them. To wrap this up it was a horrible experience and I took my business somewhere else. Won't be returning and contacting the bbb for further assistance... I felt...
