Fairly solid gym.
New management has been great and has brought a fresh breath of air that was desperately needed. Been at this Retro for 5 years and I have seen more changes and updates to this facility in the last 6 months than I have in all my time going.
However… Current issues plaguing this facility:
lack of parking. It is incredibly difficult to find parking in the facility’s lot. I can’t blame the facility for this but it truly is a con.
influx of new patrons. the gym is constantly overcrowded during the afternoon (4-8) and was never like this in the past. Even during later hours/closing hours, i have seen it still packed.
To add to this, there has been a hit towards proper gym etiquette and usage of the facility. I’ve seen patrons play with basketballs in the leg room. Deadlift then leave everything there to never return to clean up. Weights missing because they were taken and never re-racked. It is unfortunate to see
To my next point:
I think the “exclusive” student pricing is doing some more harm than good. I know regulars who feel strongly towards this point as well. No offense to students trying to get their pumps in but a school weight room may be more suitable for some of these patrons :)))))
Something that’s irked me: i’ve asked a few times for months for a new hip thrust “pad” which feels like it’s fallen on deaf ears. This pad normally is lost and no longer holds via velcro. Might be nice to have some more.
Anyways enough of my complaining … Its a good gym, getting better and better by the day just too damn crowded right now!!!
Looking forward to the upcoming...
Read moreSubject: Outstanding Review for Tenafly Retro Fitness I wanted to take a moment to share my fantastic experience at Tenafly Retro Fitness, where my husband and I have been dedicated members for the past 9 years. This gym has become a sanctuary for us, and we couldn’t be more grateful. The environment at Tenafly Retro Fitness is incredible; the staff is always friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome and supported the moment we walk through the door. The coaches are truly amazing, offering exceptional guidance and motivation that have driven us to new heights in our fitness journeys. Three months ago, I lost my job, and Retro Fitness has been instrumental in preserving my sanity and alleviating the frustrations of my job search. By taking 2-3 classes a day, not only have I become physically stronger, but my overall happiness and well-being have significantly improved. Each class brings immense joy and satisfaction, making every visit worthwhile. I highly, highly recommend Tenafly Retro Fitness to anyone seeking a positive, life-enhancing gym experience. I just want to mention names of the coaches my husband and I have been working with: Daine Chang, Rachel Lagomarsino, Moria Gorelik, Randy Breindel, Kerri Goldman, Chris J Racelis, Fabiola Bass, Benny LeBron and Yoga coaches: Shari Brooks, Okie Lee and Kristine Racine. Best regards,...
Read moreI’ve been going to this retro for almost four years. It’s my go to gym now - I used to also belong to the Tenafly JCC so I used to mix and match depending on the time I had (jcc is fancier and has a sauna) but I don’t go to the JCC anymore because of time. Parking and just walking in was too time consuming there but here I can pull up, park, and be working out in less than a minute. The people behind the desk are super nice. The equipment is in good repair. They have improved and enlarged the gym several times, which shows they really care about providing value. My only complaint is that I used to love the theatre (they have a movie theatre with machines) but the projector hasn’t been working right in the last few months so the picture is now dim and doesn’t look good, and they have hung obstacles from the ceiling that partially block the view so now I don’t go in there anymore. But, you don’t need a theatre to work out and I hear that the new classes they have in that room are great. This is the best deal in town for a great fitness center and you can get a fantastic workout here in a hurry. I’m very...
