Fat Chad's Tap & Steakhouse — Attraction in Titusville

I made a reservation for a Saturday afternoon, right after a train ride, because I anticipated it being quite busy. I was with a party of 4, including myself. We were seated at 1:30pm and ordered right away. The restaurant was moderately busy.

Our waitress kept telling us our food would be out shortly. We then heard a large table give the servers a round of applause when their food came out. We knew they had been waiting a very long time and grew apprehensive.

My group decided to leave at 3pm when our food still hadn't come out. I walked up to several waitresses on their phones and told them our intentions to leave. I was told there was a mishap in the kitchen, and they were short staffed. I was reassured again that our food would be out soon. It didn't come out until 3:15pm, so we had waited over 90 min for our food.

I totally understand the challenges of food service, but the lack of expectations was aggravating. If we were going to have a 90+ min wait for food, I'd appreciate someone telling us. The folks at the table next to me waited 2 hours for a cold steak. That's unacceptable.

As I was leaving, a party of 8+ people came in for an early dinner. As they were being seated, I told them to expect a 2 hour wait for food. The server then said, "Yes, it will be about a 2 hour wait. Is that ok?" The group of 8 became upset and stormed out due to the anticipated wait times.

Super friendly and welcoming to this weary traveler. I was given a view of the street so I could keep an eye on my car which was full of work equipment. The salad on my steak was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were fresh, and the house made ranch dressing was excellent - highly recommended for a light dinner. The fried green tomato app was interesting and quite tasty, but the aoli served with it tasted weirdly off - they brought more of the excellent ranch which was much better. It took just a little longer than normal to get a visit from my server, but they apologized profusely which was unnecessary. The tomatoes were taken off my bill since they came out after the salad, which was really above and beyond. I had a porter for dessert - It was a solid beer with a light foamy texture and a roasty, malty flavor. The only real complaint I have about the place was the music on the sound system: it was that loud, slow, angry/depressed type of rock that was popular in the late 90s/early 2000s. First time trying this restaurant. Walked in with hubby to hostess and said 2 people. As soon as I said 2 people she answered the phone and walked away ....not a good start. People in front of you should be taken care of first. Went to table. Waited 10 min for drink order. Ordered dinner at same time. Ordered flat iron steak veggie of day and side salad. Again the place was not busy. There were lots of empty tables and lots or servers so that isn't an excuse. It was 7.15pm. Waited 35 min and never received side salad. Another server brought our dinner. I asked where side salad was. Our server came over with salad and said that the dinners came out too fast. Are u kidding me? 35 min and no salad??? The steak was ok but the veggie was Zucchini. Wish I would have taken pictures. Literally 5 small triangle pieces of Zucchini. Server never came back yo ask how things were. Never any refills on drinks. Terrible experience. So sad that we wanted to support local with a terrible experience. Never an apology for...
