Great candy selection and very clean. One of my daughter's top 3 places to visit for her "good girl" surprises. If she cleans her room and behaves she gets to pick where she wants to go. She has been waiting 2 weeks to make the trip (about 40 min) and we had 6 ($1 gift cards) she got from a church trunk or treat event. There is NO WHERE on said cards that say "one card per person per visit) her brothers who are teenagers gave her theirs to be nice so she knew she had $6 to spend which let's face it isn't a lot but still. We arrive and the young girl tells us about the card policy (again it doesn't specify on card so how do I know?) So here I am one day before payday and due to covid19 suffering financially sometimes and it's the day before payday. But we drove all that way and my daughter was so happy so I said ok...lets find $2 worth then. I counted very well trust me. I counted $2.48. She told me my total was $2.88. I didn't question because I was already upset so I said fine and handed her my debit card. Then she tells me they have a $5.00 card limit and I tell her hon I don't have $5 can't you just use a third ($1 gift card) since it doesn't state any rules on it anyways!? She gets who I assume is the owner and the owner says "just put something back" I ask really? I have these cards to cover it and I made this long drive it's just 88 cents and I have an extra one dollar gift card. She says "fine but you're not getting the change!" Omg really!? I won't get the 12 cents!? Please. All I cared about was making my daughter happy. PLEASE make new gift cards that CLEARLY STATE "one card per...

Our family (two medium, under 50lb well behaved dogs, husband and daughter) have been on a road trip across the unites states and were really looking forward to checking out this retro candy store. Took one step in with our dogs (not barking) on leashes and were given very dirty looks. Then we were asked if our dogs were therapy dogs or not, since they weren’t we were asked to leave. There was one customer who was even excited to see our dogs. It’s crazy to me that we are allowed to go into a variety of stores where again our dogs are well behaved, but yet couldn’t even step inside one without very dirty looks. I will gladly bring my money somewhere else. Also not worth it! This place is hyped up. But is on a very busy corner, very small, and obviously lacking any kind of friendliness in their staff. If we were asked to leave and told a reason I could maybe understand, I am not a ridiculous person, but I am also a dog person 🤷🏼‍♀️ The dirty looks and rude...

Poor line management. When I arrived I was told a limited amount of people can come in and to wait outside. Even when people came and go I was told to wait. Waited for 15 minutes outside to go in just to have 2 people walk in and cut the line. When I approached the door letting them know my party of 3 have been waiting and 2 people cut the line. I was told sorry the store is full. I pointed out to the clerk she let 2 people in without letting them know there’s a wait. She said she didn't know two people walked in. I found it hard to believe, because I witnessed everyone that approached the door was stop quick and was told to wait. I am understanding that COVID had made things difficult, but that doesn’t excuse the fact you ignore a women and 2 small kids. My group of 3 was really looking forward to visiting the candy shop but the poor customer service made us...

Wow, what can I say about Boyd's Retro Candy Store except that it's the number one place to go in Toledo for your sweet tooth urges. The selection is great. They have hard-to-find candy (like a bag of all-chocolate tootsie pops), retro candy (as their name suggests), as well as new stuff like "Pickle Rick" candy! They also have wonderful salt water taffy. Plus, the prices are reasonable for what you get and the experience of an old time candy store. I got the beautiful stash of candy in the photo for just over 30 bucks. If you love sweets or just have a sudden craving for sugar...you have to check out this place.

.... 🍬 When you wanna act like a big kid in a candy store! Best place to find your favorite candy from childhood. They have a large variety of hard to find and retro candies, a fun selection of candy from Mexico, a ton of Saltwater Taffy flavors, and a full M&M bar!... They re-did the floor plan while closed for covid and its much easier to move thru the store now. Staff is always pleasant and cheery!
