I’ve lived in my La Belle home for 1.5 years, and it’s been a terrible experience—I deeply regret purchasing it. During the sales process, Crystal made us feel confident in her and the team’s abilities, but after closing, they failed to deliver on their promises and ignored us when issues arose- at the end of the day they are just sales people trying to convince you to buy a home. They purposefully do this because at closing (when all paper work is being signed and down paypment given) they make you record yourself and sign saying that anything said by any member in Palm Harbor does not hold true unless written in the papers (A LOT of what was said is not in the fine print and some things are even contradicted in the fine print) so please beware as at this point you've invested so much time (and even money) that you're basically forced into proceeding with the progress.
We had foundation issues even after using their recommended contractors, as STRONGLY urged by Crystal and Cat. Despite their reassurances that they'd take responsibility if something went wrong by using their contractors, they refused to do so when the work was poorly executed. For example, we used Travis and the engineering drawings weren’t followed, and even the permit inspector flagged this. When I brought it up to Palm Harbor, including Crystal, they denied everything and blamed us as they said they were "listening to the customer". They know it is their fault as the engineering drawings were not followed by their own choosing. I ultimately had to hire my own contractors to fix their work and pass inspection. (Oh, and thank goodness we did not use Sandra, their contractor—she quoted us double the price for half the cement that Travis did. Her work would have been incorrect as well but far worse and double the price, as her quote didn't even come close to meeting the engineering drawings. These are the people they refer to as their "most reliable experts".)
Since moving in, numerous problems have surfaced: creaking floors that cause dishes to rattle (their “solution” was for me to organize my dishes more separate), sheetrock cracks, a leaking sink, poorly finished trimming, roof issues, pipe leaks, and more. While they occasionally send contractors, the work is often subpar, and some problems have worsened as a result. If you’re considering a single-wide trailer, maybe you'll be okay. But for double or triple-wide homes, I strongly advise against buying from Palm Harbor. Their homes are still trailers and not stable houses as they try to make it seem, and the sales team will say anything to convince you to buy, only to disappear when issues arise. Crystal and Cat made numerous promises during the sales process, only to fail us in the end. Take note: many of the glowing reviews are from people who haven’t actually lived in the homes—they’re based solely on the sales experience. Don’t be fooled by the smiles and reassurances during sales. Once you sign, you’re...
Read moreHorrible experience. We closed May 13, 2020. It's been 6 months of communication to Palm Harbor and no effective action by Palm Harbor Tomball to get the installation properly completed. When the double-wide was delivered, Palm Harbor failed to install several piers, which caused a lot of damage in the house. Some piers were installed later. At least one pier is still missing. A proper levelling has not been done to all piers yet. Until installation is correctly completed, and the house is properly piered and levelled it makes no sense to fix the walls and ceilings --they will continue to crack--and we have 30-40 big cracks. The foundation is an urgent matter. We don't want any more damage to our $150K home.
The house has zero insulation on the water pipes--which were installed by Palm Harbor's contractor. Insulation is an installation requirement per the Palm Harbor manual. It is not customer maintenance. But here we are Nov 18th, 6 months after delivery, with no pipe insulation. It was 44 degrees earlier this week. Colder weather is coming.
We also paid Palm Harbor almost $3,000 for their contractor to put decks on the front and back. We were told the exact specs on the decks would be requested later. To the contrary, the decks were put up on our house while it was vacant, without our input or involvement as to where they should go or where stairs/access should be. The stairs on the back deck lead to the back of the property, not the front driveway --which is nonsensical. The workmanship on the decks is poor. Deck boards are not uniformly spaced. Spindles (secured with a nail gun) were done so quick several are barely attached, one is not attached at all at the top and lops to the side. The deck was not properly levelled when it was built, so when it rains, water flows toward the house, in contradiction to requirements in the Palm Harbor manual.
They told us that if we used their contractors they would guarantee the work. Untrue. They claimed we would have Gold Key Care, implying the customer is taken care of. Untrue.
There are more issues, too much to write here. They have all our money and no incentive or willingness to fix the problems. Don't buy from Palm...
Read moreAfter visiting other locations throughout Houston and feeling defeated and limited on my options, I found myself at Palm Harbor Tomball. At previous locations, there were long wait times, sales personnel were pushy and provided limited information - it was more of a "buy now, talk later" transaction. Upon walking into Palm Harbor Tomball (without an appointment) I was pleasantly greeted by Regina who was immediately happy to help. I was very upfront that I was not ready to purchase a home in that moment and was just looking for options, as the other locations were really difficult and disheartening - not once did she shy away from being willing to help and her tone and excitement to hear me out never changed. I explained my past experience with the previous dealers, exactly what I was looking for in a home, my budget and my timeline - again, she was extremely accommodating and got together 5 different options to fit my needs. She patiently walked me through each home, even helped entertain my wild child during the tours and was including him in every aspect of the tours, and listened to every concern or thought that I had regarding the homes. 2 of the 5 were perfect, an she without hesitation showed them to me once more so I could be sure of which one my heart was set on. A couple days later I showed up again, not with an appointment, but with my whole family in tow and she exhibited the exact same excitement and genuine care for me and my family. Not once was she pushy, she didn't dive deep into how much money I could give her right then and there (or really at all) and was thorough and upfront about each question, comment and concern I had. I was hesitant on the decision to purchase a house at the beginning of my search, but after spending time with Regina, I could not recommend anyone else to purchase a home through. Palm Harbor Tomball and Regina are beyond 5 stars - they treat you like people, take the time to get to know you and listen to you, and are the most heart warming and...
