OK, First off, I only write a review if something is a standout or a danger, so (And I read all the reviews) How or why does ANYONE give a 1 star review with no commentary? And the other less positive comments mostly complain about prices--But guess what? Good/specialty foods COST More, and any business, especially a small one, needs to make a small profit on top of paying staff and keeping the lights on, and they obviously don't have the negotiating power over wholesale prices that Walmart has, so maybe get a clue and be realistic in your perception of value!
If you don't want to pay a little more for premium or unique products, then shop elsewhere, But don't complain about prices! NEXT--Regarding the staff, I don't know what passes for "Rude" to other people, but every time I've been there--and I was just there--it happened that one item I was looking for was sold out and the Gentleman at the counter told me it would probably be in the next day and asked me if I wanted a phone call when they got it in! Go to any big chain market and ask them to either "special order" something for you, or "Call you when it's in"! (Cue the Laughing!)
This Store is a local Treasure that's been here since before I moved here in the 80's and they certainly have a solid customer base. That alone speaks volumes. I hope they continue to be an oasis of epicurean gems in the desert of "processed" mediocrity that is Toms River! I'd give them a 10 star review if that were possible, But 5 will have to do!
...there must be something I can complain about--I Got It! They're like 3.5 miles away from my house! I demand that they immediately relocate to the nearest commercial building on my side of the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is an excellent stop on Route 37, and a great place to visit on a rainy day, or if you're in the market for unique grocery items or homeopathic remedies. Most of the time, I visit the apothecary section of Natural Foods, as the shop is filled with a variety of vitamins, probiotics, cosmetics, incense, and homeopathic goodies. The staff is accommodating and knowledgeable on most of their stuff, although I don't find them very personable, but I don't mind. The grocery store is quite the experience! The store has many different sections, and is almost maze-like. I've only been there once, but it seems that the store has a focus on vegetarian and vegan foods - I don't think you can buy animal protein in this store, but again, perhaps I am mistaken. The store is not the cheapest - not for groceries, anyway - but I don't mind supporting a small business. And the apothecary has a rotating table of clearance items, which I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI try to support local small businesses but I will be taking my patronage elsewhere !! I encountered a rude and unprofessional woman at the front door/register. Although there was an OPEN sign at the front door , their hours indicate they open at 10. I arrived at 9:15 so I reluctantly went into the store until I got the ok from the woman in the window who signaled they were open. Great, I proceeded into the store ready to shop but was NOT welcomed with a friendly smile or a good morning. Rather, I was greeted with a pitiful, condescending smirk and an insulting comment. āWe have a big open sign at our front doorā. Yah, no kidding maāam . I know how to read a sign that says OPEN. I also know how to read a sign that says your hours of opening are 10 am. I said to her well your sign says you open at 10 she says well thatās because our hours changed since Covid. Maybe you should change your sign to avoid...
