Where do I start? I’ve been staying at this hotel on a business trip since June 9th was schedule to check out July 3rd. There was a power outage Friday June 28th that lasted all night mind you the week leading to this power outage there were 3 other days that the power had gone out but came back after a few hours. So this Friday like I said before the power goes out and it was out for good and In the early morning at around 5:30 am or so the Toms River police were knocking on doors evacuating everyone at the Fire marshal request due to safety apparently a transformer had gone out. Now I know it’s not the hotels fault that this transformer went out I know that. The problem I have is that that morning I went to my truck watching people funnel out of the hotel, so I decided to get some breakfast, when I came back a manager explained to me what had happened so I told her I needed to get the rest of my belongings and she told me to go ahead and take what I need and that it might take a day or two for the power company to fix the problem, in other words come back in a couple days and it will be fixed, so I told her I needed to check out because I’m on a company sponsored trip and needed a place to stay until the 3rd of July. So I was escorted to get my stuff and a young lady at the lobby was taking peoples name, room number, email, and cell phone where they can reach you at in order to send you an invoice. So they got their power back and I never got a phone call or email from them to get my invoice.Today July 1st in the morning while getting ready to go to work I realized that I had left a wind breaker jacket on a hanger in the room I was staying so I called a couple hours later and spoke to a lady and she told me she would have a staff member go to the room and check if it was there, I told her great I’ll swing by after work to get the jacket and pick up my invoice. I get there at around 3:30 pm and I was told that there was no jacket, of course their going to tell me that, so I wasn’t to happy about that so I said I need my invoice for the time I spent at the hotel the young man prints out an invoice that still had me checked in as of today, unbelievable I swear. Remember everyone had to evacuate the hotel Saturday morning after sleeping through the night without power so that’s already an inconvenience whether it’s their fault or not it doesn’t matter. So I told the young man that they need to fix the invoice to reflect that I left Sat the 29th due to the power outage, so he went and spoke to the manager and got it fixed. Want to know what I got for the inconvenience of the 3 days prior of power outage along with the fact that I had to abruptly check out of a hotel that I had been staying at since the 9th of June, I received no compensation at all, lol they even charged me for the night of the 28th., and like I said before they still had me checked in, so they didn’t even bothered to check me out once power was restored. I will never ever, ever stay at this hotel due to the lack of compensation one way or another of having me go through all this inconvenience. I know things happen but it’s what you as a business after the fact that counts. The costumer service from my perspective I this situation was poor, the staff at least with me never made any accommodations or asked me if they could help me get another room elsewhere. As far as the jacket I know a staff member probably took it, I know I left it in a hanger in the room closet. Very disappointed at this...
Read moreI was attending a wedding in Lakewood, NJ. There are surprisingly very few hotels nearby there that aren't on the shore and are major chains. I had in the past stayed at a Ramada in Toms River, but I learned that it had been sold and turned into an office building.
For some reason, Lakewood has very few hotels. I had stayed at one of the only other nearby hotels, a Hilton Garden Inn, but it is overpriced. I saw the Days Hotel, and it got good reviews. The bride's grandmother told me a friend had stayed there and had given a good report, so I booked a reservation.
The Days Hotel Toms River was a pleasant surprise. It was the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in! No dirt, no signs of bugs. no stains in the bathtub! No cracked tiles or mismatched wallpaper. And I asked for maid service after the first night, and they gave it to me, complete with all fresh towels, bedding, and amenities, made the bed, vacuumed, and cleaned the coffee area, even not waiting until late in the afternoon, as some hotels do.
And it looked like the hotel had just been redecorated. Not 1950s dreary with holes in the carpet and broken tiles in the bathroom. Very tasteful with light, simple colors: just the way I like it.
The hotel was very quiet, no rowdy guests, and it was set back from the highway, so no road noise, as well. And a big parking lot in front (free) with no driving around and around for a space, even after I returned from the wedding late at night.
And it is conveniently located to the main streets leading to Lakewood, which was important to me.
Staff was nice, and there were two computers in the lobby with Internet + a printer for guests to use.
It's a four-story hotel, and I had a room on the top floor, which I had requested.
I had noticed before I left that the room rate (AAA - two double beds) since I made the reservation had gone down. I pointed that out when I checked in, and the agent behind the desk matched that rate. And there was always someone behind the desk, regardless of time of day. And they answered the phone!!
There was a restaurant in the hotel that I didn't use, but they were very nice and gave me plastic silverware and disposable dishes so I could eat in my room the special-diet food I had brought. The room also had a large mini-fridge (that functioned well!)
So overall I would say it was much better even than staying at the old Ramada. And better than the Hilton at a much lower price. And 1,000 times better than an old Best Western I stayed in once, which apparently is also kaput.
Only complaint was that one of only two elevators was out of order, and it wasn't fixed the whole time I was there (3 days, 2 nights). But there usually wasn’t a wait for the...

Are you headed to the Jersey Shore for a family vacation, a wedding, or any other catered event? Look no further! The Days Inn in Toms River, NJ is one of the top hotels I have ever stayed at! And believe me, I have travelled quite frequently for majority of my life. This trip was something out of a movie. From the A-mazing staff all the way to the vast amenities offered. Yes, that’s right! There is a gym, an indoor pool, and laundry amenities on-site! The rooms are quite spacious, like a home away from home! Not only did I make friends with the staff, but I also made friends with so many fantastic guests. Literally from all over the world! This trip was exactly what I needed to have some much needed R&R. I will definitely return in the future, but next time with friends or family. This way we can go spend some time at our happy places: The Seaside Boardwalk and Island Beach State Park. Two places that will also hold a special place in my heart! I would like to take the time to individually thank the staff members I have met during this wonderful business trip: First, I would like to thank Juan. He went above and beyond to make sure my stay was possibly the best experience ever. He even switched my room to have more peace and quiet. His stories are “one for the ages!” He is by far one of the best overnight employees I have had the pleasure to get to know. To the maintenance staff, Oliver and Mark: Thanks for keeping the hotel looking it’s best! Both work extremely hard to ensure the place sparkles like jewels in one’s eyes. Dina: Thanks for all you do! You truly are a rock star for holding down the bar/restaurant the way you do! And by the way the food is something out of fairytale. How can food taste so absolutely mouth-watering?! And Yocelina: I have never met an office manager at bubbly as you! I thoroughly enjoyed our talks. You are one of a kind and again, made my stay that much more special! Any staff members not mentioned: you all are so great at what you do! It really goes to show that the leaders who encourage the staff and promote positivity are aiming for success! Also, kudos to how smooth the hotel runs. Everyone knows their job and then some! Keep at it! If stopping for the night on a quest, looking to have a self-discovery journey, or looking to stay at a place to visit the “shore,” I promise you will absolutely love it. You may never even want to leave! This stay at the Days Inn, lifted my spirit in a way I never thought imaginable! So a huge thank you to the top dawgs who keep this hotel running at top speed!
