In order to schedule a pick up for a donation, you must conform to their pick up schedule, which is extremely rigid and set by geographic zones. They are extremely "particular" as to the condition of the furniture they will take. Anything that is scratched or in need of any refurbishing, they will not take, even though the items and their condition were reviewed at the time a pick up was scheduled. It was my understanding that the items donated would be sold in their store, which functions similar to a thrift store, where the items are not in perfect or new condition, but rather require some reconditioning. The funds generated from the sale of those items are then invested in Habitat for Humanity's mission. Approximately half of the items that I wanted to donate were not taken because of issues with their "condition" and I had to arrange for another charity to accept them. Jimmy Carter would not approve of such rigid condition requirements as it deprived his organization with the opportunity to generate support from this donation. Also, it should be known that the donation of furniture is not enough. A minimum donation of $10 is also requested at the time the appointment for a pick up is made. I'm not sure what the purpose of this funding is or why it's even requested. It seems a bit much to request a cash donation on top of the donation already being made. If you are so inclined to make such an additional donation, do so via check and do not give the drivers or any...
Read moreWe donated bedroom furniture that was picked up today/Saturday morning. Two very professional gentlemen came and did an excellent job of removing a triple dresser, armoire, and two night stands. The hours that we were given were 10-12noon. They arrived around 11 and were finished in less than 45 minutes. They were very efficient. The store is also wonderfu and very organized, as we had an opportunity to browse around while we went to inquire about the donation. The items are very good quality and so reasonably priced. The staff is extremely helpful. The entire process is amazing! We'll be returning soon to be on the buying end. Thank you, Northern Ocean Habitat Restore. It was a great experience,...
Read moreWould absolutely not recommend shopping here. The staff is extremely rude, and ruined a table we purchased when their staff put in it our car. We then came back to ask if we could return it, and purchased a table that was $40 dollars more expensive. One of the employees accused my mom of “trying to rip them off, and taking advantage of the situation” and yelled at her in front of everyone in the store. Even though we purchased a more expensive table afterward. The staff is horrible rude, and made the experience there terrible. You can find much nicer stuff at the goodwill where the staff is always polite and helpful. Will never return to this store and will be writing to their...
