Ive been here lots of times. While I was initially impressed by the size and organization of the space, the staff has been rude many times. They take items given to them, sell them often at prices higer than ive seen at other thrift stores, and seem to look down on you while you pay them. The last time I went in and wanted to buy an item that one staff member told me was still available, but when I made it to the counter I was told it wasnt. I politely told the person that one of their coworkers had just told me it was. I wasnt rude, I just knew that they had multiple dressers and the one I wanted was supposed to still be availae. She got on the walkie and told the staff to go put a new sold sticker on because 'someone' had taken it off. All while looking at me. I felt like she was accusing me of trying to steal some $10 dresser. She stopped helping her line of customers to do this, making this inappropriate conversation take place in front of two lines full of people. When the staff have to wear gloves to ring you out, it makes you feel like your newly purchased items are dirty. I understand medical conditions and what not, and how dirty money is, but its a sort of offputting thing to see when you hand over your money. I went another time to get coffee and they poured me a coffee out of a box like you can buy at dillons, added a little milk and charged $5. Another time a friend and I arrived 15 before closing to look for one item id seen the day before. Every person we saw unhappily told us they were closing soon. One person even followed us from room to room to watch us. The item was still there but we felt so uncomfortable that we didnt buy it and left. Im not the sort of person who expects the moon and stars. I wouldnt even post if this had been a one off experience. But I dont go back out here anymore because of the...
Read moreI have always been a huge supporter of God's Storehouse. I have followed them all around Topeka to their current location for the last 8 or 9 years! I used to urge others to go because in the past they have been very kind to the individuals I serve and I was proud to refer people to them. I have to say that I am VERY UNHAPPY with the way this former "Ministry" has turned in to a business. I work with individuals who have very little money and limited resources. The money the do have they does not go far in today's economy that's for sure and up until now I have promoted God's Storehouse as a "Community Resource". Sadly, I can't say that anymore. The prices are so inflated that the "Store" is overflowing because things get donated but they are not getting sold. Someone saw fit to make a huge profit from the items that are dropped off. The person I was with was in desperate need of warm weather clothing. They picked up a shirt, well worn, faded, but definitely the right size but the price tag said $4.00 for a used T-Shirt !!!!!!! IT WAS DONATED!!! THERE ARE SO MANY RACKS OF CLOTHING and aisles of furniture that YOU CAN BARELY GET AROUND ANYMORE. These things are DROPPED OFF BY THE CARLOAD, PILED UP ON THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING HEAP AFTER HEAP AND STILL YOU NEED TO CHARGE $4.00 FOR A T-SHIRT????? NO THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! I CAN GET A BRAND NEW SHIRT AT WALMART FOR $4.00. .........So apparently greed set in and someone is looking to cash in on what once was a good thing. SHAME...

The store seemed clean and did not have an odor some such places might have, great space room of various items, I was not looking for anything I. Particular so I just meandered throughout the areas. Great election of books be tapes ad well ad various electronics items, I know nothing about electronics however for someone who may understand, it might be worth stopping by otherwise a few items I searched for were six 6 t shirts for a great grand son could not find anything sized close to that so I searched for some summer dresses wear playclothes, for great grand daughter nothing found so I just looked around some furniture for sale, nice looking sofas and chairs, a bookshelf all reasonably priced in very good looking condition, not very modern though, like so many desire nowadays, but available and a sign said delivery within the area also a good benefit. Otherwise a beneficial trip to look around and enjoy. I did not look or participate in the...
