El Mezcal III — Restaurant in Topeka

I love this place and all the staff here! Thanks for stopping by our table and handing out fist bumps, Señor Alex! Even the chef came out to personally deliver our meal and make sure it was all perfect (which it ALWAYS is!) We sure missed you all during the shutdown, and are so glad everyone was healthy and there to greet us with smiles and service that is hard matched anywhere else in Topeka!!!

UPDATE** : Still a top notch place to grab a bite, with excellent, unbeatable service. Our server (almost always the same hard working gentleman) saw it was us, and already knew what my grandfather was having. We always are greeted with a fist bump, and he was excited to see how big my husband's and my son has gotten. They were extremely busy, but we were taken care of as per usual, with delicious food made to perfection. We also ate here on our little dude's 1st birthday, and they sang for him and gave him a very special, one year old appropriate version of the birthday treat. I recently visited this restaurant for a family member's birthday celebration, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what we had hoped for. From the moment we arrived, the service was disappointing. Our server took an unusually long time to attend to us, leaving us waiting for what felt like forever just to place our orders. One of the most troubling aspects of the evening was witnessing the server give alcohol to underage girls at a nearby table. This lack of responsibility is deeply concerning and unacceptable. The situation only escalated when these girls proceeded to smash whipped cream on the birthday girl's face. She was clearly uncomfortable with the situation, and it ruined what should have been a joyful celebration. To make matters worse, the same server bumped into a family member without so much as an apology or acknowledgment. This lack of basic courtesy only added to our frustration. Overall, the experience left much to be desired, and we left the restaurant feeling disappointed and upset. I went to El Mezcal III with a friend last night for the first time. I wanted to check this place out due to the good reviews and just because I love Hispanic food. It was busy (which I expected it to be). However, our server had us waiting on him entirely too long before he took our order. The first time he came to get our orders we weren’t ready just yet (my friend had just arrived) then after that it’s like he continued to pass our table and help others out, who got their food before we did although they came after us. About 30-45 mins later he finally came back. It also seemed as though he was rushing us to order (even though he took his sweet time to check on us throughout our entire visit). Our waiter didn’t ask to refill our drinks either just horrible! For all that waiting, the food didn’t take long at all maybe 10-15 mins. I would give the food itself a 6/10.
