Bottom line up front: This is a Courtyard so if you're expecting a Ritz you're at the wrong place, but as far as Courtyards go this is one of the best I've ever stayed at and by far the best in the South Bay area (and near LAX).
1: Hotel staff and management are extremely friendly, capable, and on-top of requests or issues.
2: Amenities and rooms are as advertised, and what you'd hope for with a Courtyard. Clean, professional, well-maintained, and perfect for business travelers.
3: Minor detail but one of my biggest reasons for staying here as opposed to other hotels: It is easy to connect devices to the T.V. - The box in the back is easily accessible and there's no issue with the remote working with the box and additional devices such as Playstations/XBox's.
4: Internet speed is good to great. It's not as fast as some of the premium brands but I've never had an issue performing work, doing video calls, or streaming/gaming at night.
5: Recognition of Elite Status and Special Requests: The front desk is extremely well-trained, handling elite status and guaranteed benefits well and never missing/skipping any recognition items like gift choice. This hotel is extremely good at managing special requests like service animals, requests for room changes (when available), using multiple credit cards (important for some business travelers) and other things.
6: Not really hotel-related specifically but it's in a great area of Torrance near their historic downtown (bars, ice cream, restaurants, etc), the gigantic Del Amo mall/shopping center, and a lot of local breweries, restaurants, and stores. You'll never need to travel far if you stay here to get what you need.
This is a great property in a great location with a fantastic staff. Recently renovated so there are some quirks that come with that (I found painter's tape in my room once but not a big deal honestly) but in almost every...

Incident: People who were in the room next to us started partying at two am, playing music very loud, yelling, smoking weed in a non-smoking room, and drinking. Our three-year-old son woke up, startled and scared. Then our two-year-old son woke up. We called the front desk. The response, no problem, we will take care of it. There was no change in music volume or yelling. We followed up with six more calls and a trip to the front desk asking for them to take action, all with the same response. The police came to their room at 7:45 am and kicked them out.
Disregard for safety: Having to confront a group of people fueled by drugs and alcohol should not have to be done by a guest. One never knows the state of mind of the people, how many people are in the room, and what they have on them. A situation confronting intoxicated people can evolve physically very fast. The last thing wanted during a family hotel stay. This hotel was not capable of handling this situation and ignored it in hopes that it would stop. Keeping guests feeling safe should be the number one priority!
Resolution:
At 8 am someone from the front desk knocked on our door and said we would get a complimentary late checkout, the last thing we wanted. When we went to check out at 8:30 am, I asked for our money back. There was no manager onsite, so calls needed to be made. I sat and waited. The last thing I wanted to do is sit in the lobby while the kids and wife were ready to go. Then I was told we would only get a refund from one night out of a two-night stay because we didn't complain about the first night. Now at the front desk for forty-five minutes, exhausted and tired, with a family ready to go, I wasn't going to argue. Their customer service is disappointing at the very least. I do not...
Read moreThis unfortunately was one of worst hotels I have stayed at in a really long time.
I needed a quick place to stay after traveling from the east coast and have happily stayed at Marriott hotels many times in the past. From the second I arrived, the experience was miserable.
Instead of a kind welcoming face to be greeted by after my travel, I was greeted by a rude and stern woman first unlocked the front door of the lobby. She refused to check me in until after making me go to the business center to print an unnecessary document since she wouldn’t accept the email copy. I asked her if there was a manager and she said “no but I’m the auditor”. I was very tired and considered a new hotel at this point, but since it was late I decided to just stay anyway. The room itself was disgusting.
As soon I as I entered the room it must’ve been 80 degrees. There were handprints on the walls in the bathroom, the bathroom door was cracked like someone was trying to break in, and the paint chipped. When I went to take a shower the pipes made a terrible noise and the water barely streamed out. When I tried to speak to the front desk they tried to blame my issues on the availability of rooms they had and also stated the manager was busy. I called back to speak to the manager Mario and they said he was busy again and would call me back. I never received a call back and they over charged me!
I finally got ahold of the manager Mario by calling again and he was working the front desk. He was kind and realized my experience was definitely not up to par for a Marriott hotel. He said he would fix this for me. He never got back to me again.
I’ve never had such a miserable experience before and will definitely not be returning. Anyone that’s thinking of a hotel to stay at for the night. Skip this one, it’s not worth the frustration and...
