Lake Balboa Park (Van Nuys) is my go to for morning run. This day I decided to switch things up by going to Columbia Park to meet my Brother for a run as well.
I meet my Brother at Columbia mid morning. After chat/warm up, it was time to run and admire Columbia Park and it's scenery.
There are two areas to walk/run at Columbia...Concrete trail or Track/Dirt trail. The design set up is great because you could either walk/run on one trail or blend both concrete/track trail together which is what I did.
As I was running, I was really admiring the scenery throughout. Trees throughout concrete trail and just an open area throughout track trail. Seeing that big blue sky on track trail was humbling. Gorgeous!
There are play areas for kids and benches throughout the park to eat or just sit and soak it in. Columbia Park is in Torrance, CA. About 25 to 40 minute drive from my location depending on traffic.

The bathrooms (two of them) are usually clean, and the city has done a pretty good job of keeping the tweekers away.
There are multiple picnic table sites (you have to reserve them) and bbq grills, too. The decomposed granite walking paths are a total of 1.3 miles. These are maintained pretty well. There are a lot of trees on the east end of the park.
It's a great place to walk your dogs too, you can pretty much be away from other dogs if you wish.
I walk my dog here every day and have never had a problem with homeless tweekers or...
