Would not recommend staying at this one….|Checked in and told could only have first floor room. We prefer an upper floor and it’s in our Marriott Platinum Elite profile. The room given was not a usual size. Almost as if a utility room had been converted. Less than 12 inches on one side of bed, thus no nightstand with drawer, no lighting on that side of room, no usual lighting over the smaller version of coffee/microwave/fridge. The tiny fridge did not fit in the altered cabinet as they usually do in a courtyard so cabinet door did not close all the way. Seems altered due to making it fit in this smaller room. Next to the mechanical equipment room so noise and wall vibrations intermittently ALL night long. Inquired about different room and told no. Had the vibrations/noise been constant even with the significant decibels it would have been better. White noise and ear plugs could not drown it out. Next let’s discuss how dirty the room was….. not even under anything, old food, pepperoni, and other unidentifiable items left on floor. The overall odor of the room was a 2-week old urine soaked litter box. When brought up again to front desk, all we got was a giggle and so what kind of response. The “glasses” had not even attempted to be cleaned. Had chapstick still on them, not even smeared. Took to front desk and provided new ones from bar area. The employees were not even phased by this as other than “gross,” as if it occurs regularly. At check in, as mentioned in other reviews, told the breakfast hours in a manner that it came with room. Being a seasoned Marriott patron, I knew what she was saying was incorrect but did not argue it. Going on day 4 here and since the very first moment of checkin still waiting on my mobile key after numerous in-person requests. And if expecting a luggage cart, won’t find one here. Was finally told they only have (had) one and in 3 days the front desk hasn’t seen it since before we arrived. They aren’t sure...
Read moreWe arrived to a pleasant reception, Wendy was very personable and gave great recommendations for things to do in the area that evening.
The hotel appeared to be clean, but upon deeper inspection our room hadn't been thoroughly taken care of from the previous guest. There was a dirty, used washcloth still hung up in the shower and there was hair in the bathroom that most definitely wasn't ours.
The breakfast area closes at 10, we were down for breakfast at 9:15. There were no plates, no napkins, no regular coffee, no milk for cereal, no hot foods. We had to ask someone who was not the kitchen staff to refill the milk for us.
When checking in, it was noted that we had asked for a feather free room, which we did not get. All pillows were feather pillows (those are the most uncomfortable things I've ever slept on, not to mention gross...) Also upon check in, we were not even offered the welcome bag for Gold Elite member status. I've never NOT been offered the chocolate and miniature bottles of water and made me question whether I had actually reserved with my account.
Shortly after checking OUT, my husband received a notification for a SECOND reservation in his name. Neither one of us made a reservation for a second night and it was especially alarming since the first reservation was under MY name. It mysteriously canceled itself but shows up as a reservation that we made and then canceled. It made us wonder if we were going to be double charged (so far no, thank goodness). We don't know who made this reservation or how but the email came at 2:22 when we were well on our way home. This is NOT ok.
While the staff seemed pleasant enough, I don't think we will be staying here again. We try to stay in exclusively Marriott Bonvoy hotels but I must say that I was very disappointed in the lack of amenities and attention to detail we are used to from the brand at this...
Read moreIt was the August Marriot e-mail, “Don't miss this epic East Coast road trip” that prompted me to check out this short road trip to the Finger Lakes region where wine, cultural attractions awaits. After much research, my husband and I stayed at this new Courtyard Horseheads property (about 1 ½ years in establishment) for three nights to visit the Corning Museum of Glass, the Watkins Glen State Park and the sampling of wines from the Seneca Lake wine trails.
From the check-in and throughout our entire stay, the hotel staffs were amazing friendly. We were always greeted with a hello, a smile and “Is there anything that I can help you with?”
As a silver elite member, I have visited a number of other Marriot properties in US/Hawaii and this is one of the cleanest and well-signed compared to some of the others.
Our 2nd floor king size room was quite large, firm bed/pillow, large bathroom, mini fridge, microwave, with a nice window view.
They have a BBQ/picnic area, which is great for some out-door family fun. Fitness Center so you don’t miss a beat in your daily exercise routine and an indoor pool for overall relaxation. There is large patio area with a fire-pit, which you can have a nice glass of wine in the evening over-looking the stars.
Free Wi-Fi and the business center accessibility for all your keeping up with the world and business needs.
The Bistro is a counter service for Starbuck coffee and all the related meals. The staffs took care of all our requests promptly.
Horseheads is a small town but the hotel is situated close to all the malls and restaurants. It is about a ½ hour drive to the town of Watkins Glen.
I would definitely recommend anyone that is interest in vising the nearby town to stay at...
