Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Town of Big Flats

Our family of four came out on Friday evening July 21, 2023 for a wonderful meal. However, we were met with horrible service and everything we tried order from the promotions, and from the menu was unavailable, unless we were willing to order the expensive lobster tail! The Management staff is atrocious! They offered nothing in return for not having any of the three things that we were interested in off of the menu! Absolutely nothing! I have been in the customer service business, and I would’ve at least expected a discount, since all three of the menu items were not available for order! They happen to be out that night! Really?? I have never seen anything like it! I would never recommend this place to anyone! I would give customer service zero stars if I could. They don’t have what’s on the regular menu and they don’t have what’s on the special menu! They are not organized, and they are unfriendly. They don’t put customers first and they don’t care about their customers and they don’t take responsibility for their service. Very disappointed! Never going to outback again due to the Management staff behavior! UPDATE Friday July 28, 2023. We were invited back to the outback location in Horseheads by the owners of this site, and offered a wonderful meal! I am so impressed that they were willing to make things right for what happened the week before! The integrity of the owners is impeccable! I would now recommend this outback to anyone who is considering going out for an evening and having a beautiful meal at a wonderful restaurant. We were treated with respect and had a beautiful evening out. I feel fortunate that this restaurant did everything to make a pleasant experience for the customer. I am very pleased with the service that we received. Our server, Mike, went above, and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of during our meal. I will definitely be going back to this restaurant again, as the food and the service was spectacular! I don’t normally leave reviews but felt like something needed to be said about our experience here yesterday night. We went out with 4 adults a newborn and toddler. They provided them with a chair for the toddler and settled them into a booth. Upon my husband and I arrival we realized we wouldn’t have enough room for our food and appetizer. We asked to be moved to another table and the server (Jennifer) said it wasn’t her table. We explained there was no way that 5 plates, 1 appetizer and bread would fit on the table so she moved us. You could tell she was irritated about the situation and gave us a little attitude. She kept leaving the table saying I’ll be back to take your order “after I grab their food” “after I bring them their drinks”. I brushed it off because everyone has bad days. We ordered our food and ordered loaded fries as an appetizer. She set the appetizer and apologized saying she brought the wrong one, after explaining it was the right appetizer and saying we didn’t need another one she said she’d bring it out anyway. Then she said when splitting the bill up she’d put both appetizers on my sisters bill even though we told her she didn’t need to bring it and it was her mistake. She had someone else deliver our food and I told the waitress I was supposed to get shrimp, she acted irritated and said well I’ll let the kitchen know. Our normal waitress came back and set my shrimp down while holding her cigarette in her hand WITH my food in the same hand. Then realized she had it and stuffed it in her pocket. Quite frankly she gave us on and off attitude and brought my food with a cigarette. None of us enjoyed our meals and the only reason we went out was to RELAX after a rough day of work. Outback Steakhouse - Horseheads, NY: A Casual Bite with a Twist

We stopped by Outback Steakhouse in Horseheads, NY for a laid-back dinner and went with their 3-course menu featuring the Bloomin’ Burger, baked potato soup, and a side salad. Alongside the burger, we added the Parmesan Chicken Bites, which were served as part of the main course, not as an appetizer.

The meal began with their signature honey wheat bread, warm and comforting—an Outback classic that never disappoints. The baked potato soup came next, rich and creamy, topped with cheddar, bacon, and scallions. Though the photo turned out a bit blurry, the flavors were all there—hearty and satisfying. The side salad was crisp and fresh, offering a refreshing balance to the rest of the meal.

When the Bloomin’ Burger finally arrived—after about a 30-minute wait—it made a statement. Topped with crispy blooming onion petals and melted cheese, it was juicy and flavorful. It was served with a generous helping of Parmesan Chicken Bites, golden and crispy with a shower of shredded cheese and green onions (see photo). However, the chicken was a bit too salty for my taste, though others might enjoy the bold seasoning.

Despite the delay, the staff was friendly and welcoming, making the experience feel relaxed. If you’re in the area and craving something hearty with a bit of flair, this is a solid spot to check out.
