I'm just going to copy and paste everything I wrote in the different sections of the survey I received so I don't have to rewrite everything. Before I do that though, I just want to point out that the Corning Museum of Glass is only 13 miles from here and well worth visiting. I was here on business but had some extra time to kill and CMoG was a really great experience; make sure to watch all the demos they do!
And here is the review:
This was definitely one of the most pleasant hotel stays I've ever had. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful; everybody went out of their way to make sure I was 100% satisfied and I certainly was. I was also pleasantly surprised by the free internet; there was actually enough bandwidth (3~4mb/s both directions) for more than just basic web-browsing and it was very low latency. In a lot of other hotels I end up just tethering off my phone because the free internet is barely usable. If I'm ever in the area again, this will be my first pick.
All of the staff that I met during my stay were very friendly. I interacted with JD the most since he was on the evening shift and he was exceptional. He made me feel like a VIP every time I talked to him.
I already mentioned the free internet earlier in the survey, but I will reiterate here: In other hotels, I often end up just tethering off my phone due to poor internet service. Here though, there was sufficient bandwidth and low enough latency that I never felt limited by the internet for anything I was trying to do.
The TVs were of good quality as well and I appreciated that both of them were the same size, 1080p and had HDMI inputs for my laptop. I especially liked that one of them was on/near the workspace so I could use it as a second monitor easily.
Speaking of the workspace, I really liked the design of that. The slide-out desk that blends in with the TV stand is great. It allowed me to get everything positioned just right so I could use the TV as a second monitor and work more efficiently. The extra outlets and shelf above was a nice touch too. The chair was nice too.
Bed and pillows were both very comfortable. I didn't use the couch too much, so no comment there. Bathroom was great; I really liked the...
Read moreRoom was clean. It had a microwave, a small fridge, reasonable sized TV, iron and iron board. Sheets and towels smelled clean and fresh.
Front desk staff was friendly. Breakfast was bit limited but enough to meet our needs. We have food restrictions (halal food only) and we were able to have breakfast easily as they had eggs, fresh waffles, yogurt, bagels etc
I took off the stars because of their housekeeping staff roaming around and using the guest elevator on Sunday as if it's a service elevator only. A girl from housekeeping didn't let us ride the elevator 1st as we were waiting for the elevator and rushed to load her cart on while I think her manager was standing there too. Anyhow we squeezed in with her and when the door opened on our floor another staff member had her cart and other stuff all lined up exactly at the door leaving behind a tight way for guests to get off and as I got off and passed her, she screamed out: EXCUSE ME as if I am in her way where she is blocking the way for customers. On same day couple of hours later when we rode the elevator to leave the hotel, on the main floor as the elevator door opened a staff member rushed into the elevator with her head down i merely saved myself from bumping into her, again the housekeeping supervisor/manager (an old lady) was standing there witnessing all this with her tounge stuck between her teeth.
Housekeeping rushing around ruined our experience. I do understand if the premises don't have a service elevator, they would be using guest elevator, either have designated time for them or train them to give way to...
Read moreWe stayed Thursday through Sunday. When we walked into the room there was a big difference in the temperature from that in the hallway; much hotter and more humid. And there was a musty smell. The air conditioning seemed to turn off if there was no one in the room. When we complained the response was the equivalent of a shrug. This was never resolved so the towels and carpet were never quite dry and our clothes in our suitcase were clammy. We were told we would only get housekeeping to take out the garbage, provide new towels and straighten up on Saturday. This did not happen. Also the towels were oddly non-absorbant and rough, they seemed to be a polycotton blend but the tags did not say anything. We were on the first floor so the noise of cars was loud as there is a road between the hotel and the mall next door. This also meant street lights and the blackout shades do not go to the bottom of the window and do not close all the way. Luckily there is a Walmart 500 meters away so we got eye shades and earplugs. The gym is very small and the floors are dirty, cobwebs in the frame of the window to the pool. The pool was small but fine. The breakfast was fine but not particularly healthy for someone watching their sodium. It is kind of expensive for the quality: about 350CDN a...
