This is not my idea of a dog park or even a suitable place for a dog walk. The space feels more like a calm area where people might play chess and sit down to relax. You can watch the water or stream in front of the park, but in the summertime, the trees and bushes are so overgrown that it's hard to see it clearly. The area is maintained in terms of mowing, but calling it a dog park doesn't make much sense if you have to keep your dog on a leash at all times. There’s a section that isn’t fenced off from a neighboring dilapidated property, which doesn’t help. They have a trash can for dog bags, but there are no bags provided. Read moreFor those who may not realize, Park for Paws is not a dog park. The Village of Catskill will not allow the space to be completely fenced in. The person who created this spot in 2006, created this spot for dog owners to come and enjoy the space while their pooches can do their bathroom business. Trying to socialize dogs while they are leashed is a good way for a dog fight to break out. Also, I thought the idea was to get your dog exercise that they can’t get on a leashed walk.
